Hi, I'm Angelica. Today we're going to be talking about my top tips for how I made a million dollars teaching yoga and how you can create a full-time living for yourself as a yoga teacher. I've been teaching yoga now since 2005. I've studied yoga since I was 11 years old. For over 40 years now, over 50,000 people have taken my class. I've owned 3 yoga studios, and now I teach online yoga teacher training. You can check that out in the link below. Right now I am teaching privately, just one-on-one, for yoga teacher training. It's not super expensive, but it is super amazing. Everyone who's graduated from the training this year already has a job teaching yoga, except for the one person that had a baby. She's not teaching, she's focusing on her baby, and It's beautiful too. When I first became a yoga teacher, I didn't realize that it's really your own business. You are not an employee. It's not like you're gonna go in and get a paycheck. You're gonna have to work, even if you work at a studio, which by the way is the worst place to work, but you are gonna have to work to get every single client in the door. You're gonna have to work for everybody who takes your class, and that is not super easy. So you're gonna have to always be promoting. Always have some kind of material on you to give to people so that they can know how to get a hold of you. Connect with people on social media wherever you're at. If you're out having dinner, if you're out with friends, whatever you're doing, always be telling everyone about what it is that you're doing. It takes a really long time to build a following, and so you're going to want to reach out to everyone that you can. The next most important thing if you wanna become a yoga teacher is to treat it like it is the most important profession. Show up wearing really nice clothing. Do your hair. Don't look like trash. Look good. Don't feel like you can just show up in whatever. Don't show up in clothes with holes on them. Be a professional. Be there fully presented as a professional. Before I go into a class, I always say to myself in my car ahead of time, Spirit, God, Universe of the Divine Understanding, allow me to be a conduit to others, to help other people, so that as I walk into this class, I forget everything that's going on in my life and just be 100% of service to others. That is what I say before going into every class. Make everything that you're doing about your students. Make yourself be the the consummate professional so that everything that you're doing is best in class. You want to have a world-class experience for your students. So make sure that when you're teaching yoga, you are showing up as a professional every single time. The next thing I would suggest if you wanted to become a yoga teacher and to make good money teaching yoga is to get as much experience as you possibly can with top-level teachers. So you want to be working with people who have what you want. This is true of everything in life. If you want something, you want to only get advice from those who are doing or having what you want. But work only with the teachers that you want to be like and you want to emulate. And when you go to these classes, write down, take notes, figure out what it is that they're doing that's so great and how you can emulate that and put that into your class. You see, the thing is, people think they have to create something totally new and something totally different, but the reality is, is that yoga, as Patanjali said, yoga is just teaching the same thing over and over again. You're not teaching something new, you're just teaching the yoga. And for me, I'm teaching the yoga of Patanjali, the yoga of Pattabhi Joy, Ashtanga yoga, the yoga of BKS Iyengar, Iyengar yoga. Those are my primary types of yoga. And I was blessed enough to work with Pattabhi Joy before he passed away. But I also have worked with some of his students, Sharon Gannon, Sean Corn, I've worked with people who have also worked with him, and I did whatever it took to go and put my money and my time and my effort into that education. It's just like going to college. You want to choose the education that's going to give you what it is that you want. Don't expect your 200-hour yoga teacher training to be enough. I have spent way more hours learning how to be a yoga teacher than any other job that I've ever had. And I'm pretty good at it because I worked so hard at it and because I really wanted that to happen for me. And lastly, the thing that I would say is going to really catapult you as a yoga teacher is to put it first in your life. Put it as the primary job. You probably are going to have to have another job to get you through in the beginning. Sometimes I have to work when it's slow season and I don't get enough people signed up for my online yoga teacher training. I want to buy things. I want to live a life that allows me to do what I want. I like to travel. And so sometimes I have to do other jobs, even now. I didn't have to do that when I owned the yoga studio. After like, maybe I want to say 3 months in, I quit my job. But sometimes now that I've transitioned and I'm working online, and I'm still pretty early in this, I've only been working online for a few years, I don't always have the full client load, especially like around the holidays is not a busy time. Everybody's doing holiday things. So I pick up other jobs. You might have to pick up other jobs too. Don't be afraid to pick up other jobs, but make your yoga teaching your priority. Always make it your priority because eventually it will happen for you that you can make it your full-time priority. But if it's your part-time priority in the beginning, it's always gonna be your part-time priority. And it's okay if that's all you want out of it is for it to be part-time, then that's all right. It doesn't have to be full-time, but if you want it to be a full-time career, you've got to make a full-time commitment to it. Thank you so much for joining me in the video today.
