What's in a backbend? That which we call a bhujangasana, by any other word, just means cobra. There are many levels of backbends. For instance, you could start here in the sphinx pose. You could lift up in a locust pose. You could slowly start to come up in your cobra pose. You could raise your arms all the way up into what yin yogis call seal pose. And still yet, there's upward facing dog, or urdhva mukha, Svanasana. Whichever backbend you choose, make sure that you feel good in it. It doesn't matter how anyone else feels. It only matters how you feel. If you've been thinking about becoming a certified yoga teacher, there's no better way than private instruction.
