Ardha Uttanasana is Uttanasana's half cousin. If you know your Sanskrit, you'll get that joke. When I'm teaching Ardha Uttanasana, I take a deep inhale, raise the arms to the sky, exhale and fold forward. We're going to inhale, bring our hands onto the shins, look up and lengthen the spine. Now we're into our Ardha Uttanasana. Spread the toes wide, ground down through the earth, let the spine be nice and long. Hands can be onto the shins. Hands can be onto the feet, hands can be next to the feet if we're going for a more traditional look here. This posture is typically part of Surya Namaskar A and Surya Namaskar B flows.
