If you take away one thing from this webinar, I would encourage you to take this one away. Don't go to holiday parties hungry. It is almost impossible to maintain control when you're starving when you get to the holiday party. So make sure you have a well-balanced snack. And a well-balanced snack is something that contains protein, fat, carbohydrate, and fiber. Some examples are yogurt with a small handful of nuts, a piece of cheese, and a piece of fruit. Carrots or celery with some peanut butter. Those snacks are including carbohydrate, protein, fat, and fiber. It's gonna help to fill you up, not too full, so you'll still be able to enjoy the holiday party, but you're not gonna go starving. Secondly, out of sight, out of temptation. I know from personal experience, if I'm sitting on a couch at a party and there's a candy jar right there, or chips, or whatever it is, I'm gonna mindlessly pick up the candy, pick up the chips, chips as I have— enjoy myself at the party because it's right there, it's within arm's length. If you make sure you sit or stand farther than an arm's length away from the food, it's less likely you're gonna grab that food. Also, you physically have to get up and go get that food. Then work to make sure you're really enjoying the food as you're eating it and you're not focusing on something else, whether that's talking to your friends, playing a game, watching something. Focus on the food and that will will increase your satiety and increase the pleasure of eating the food.
