In this motivational monologue, the speaker reflects on how her original career and personal life plans—such as becoming president of MTV Networks, having a corner office with a nursery, and being a stay‑at‑home mom—did not materialize as expected. She recounts her shift from MTV’s talent department to a news channel to pursue TV production, and how the COVID‑era disrupted her two‑year‑ahead plans. Emphasizing that change is inevitable and beneficial, she urges listeners to let go of rigid expectations, adopt a growth‑oriented mindset, and actively pursue new goals like appearing on the Drew Barrymore Show or Good Morning America. The talk culminates in a call‑to‑action, prompting the audience to identify a personal change they are struggling with, accept it, and envision the possibilities it creates for their future.

Right? Change is actually a good thing. And what I wanted to really talk about this morning is is not my hair, even though it's like sticking up straight, is that the lives that we thought that we might have been having maybe aren't working out, right? Aren't the way we— this isn't the way I thought it was gonna be, and how we can overcome that and understand that that's okay. You know, we can do the whole thing like it's— this is what's meant to be for me. You know, we can be very spiritual about it, but it's frustrating, right, when things don't work out the way that you plan for them to be, it's time for us to change our mindset and see where we are, because change is good. You know, I was supposed to have a corner office and be the president of MTV Networks. Did you know that? Like, when I worked at MTV, um, I worked in the talent department, meaning that I was like— I was the person that was filling out all the paperwork and sending in all of the videos so that the peop— the So all the content that VH1, Nickelodeon, and MTV put out there got awards, like the Clio Awards, the Ad Age Awards, Emmy Awards. I was in that department for a little while, um, and I remember feeling that I was doing the wrong thing and I wasn't in the right place, and this wasn't what I meant— was meant to do, and how I had to change that. But I also changed my mindset, you know. I wanted to be in TV production. I actually had to leave MTV and go to a news channel so that I could be in the TV production. But I wanted that corner office. I was gonna be the president of MTV. I, I was like this in, in my head. I was gonna have a corner office with a bathroom and a nursery so I could bring my baby to work because I always wanted to be a mom. When I was— I always wanted to be a mom. Um, and how things— like, I look at that now and how things have changed and haven't worked out the way that I was supposed to, you know. I was gonna like be a stay-at-home mom and take care of my kids and do charity work, and that didn't happen. I was lucky enough to be a stay-at-home mom for a little while and then started, like many of you, my own thing. But looking back at what I thought my life was going to look like and what it actually looks like now is completely different. And the plans that I made for 2 years ago— let's not even talk about COVID— but the plans that I had made are different. What I'm doing is different, and that's got to be okay. So I wanted to allow the space and maybe the conversation with how how our lives have changed is okay. What we're doing is different, but that's taking us down a different path. And when we can be okay with change, right, and not hold on to what it's supposed to be, then that's when it works out. You know, I want to be on the Drew Barrymore Show. I want to be on Good Morning America. That was one of my goals for last year. It didn't happen. I'm gonna make it happen this year, and if I don't make it happen, I'll make it happen next year. But like, that's the stuff that I focus on when I think about how my life's supposed to be and how it's so different. The change— so, you know, I need to ask you, what is that thing that you thought was going to happen that changed? What is that change in your life that you're struggling with that's so hard? Let's let it go today. Let's let it go and just accept where we are and what we're doing and how grateful we are for our lives and how many, you know, many people in the world are not okay right now. So today, let's all be okay with what's happening in our lives because change is good. Change is uncomfortable. It's okay to be uncomfortable, all that stuff. So what are you going to change about how you think about where you are? And what's that going to allow? The space. What's that going to allow for you to create for the possibility of your future? Because your potential is possible. The only one that can stop that is you. Yes, you, you can do it. We can do it. Let's do it together. Have a great day, babe. Where you are, and what's that going to allow? The space. What's that going to allow for you to create? For the possibility of your future, because your potential is possible. The only one that can stop that is you. Yes, you, you can do it.
