A short YouTube-video transcript by Richard Kohberger (the "blue collar nerd") explaining what a hackathon is, giving an example of a past ServiceTitan hackathon outcome (the quick navigation feature), and announcing the Pantheon hack — a ServiceTitan hackathon that invites users to submit feature ideas via a form in the video description. Selected users will be paired with hackathon teams to refine and build the feature, with projects completed before Pantheon and presented on day two. The speaker advises realistic scope for submissions but encourages users to submit ideas even if unsure of effort required.
What's going on, everybody? It's Richard Kohberger here, the blue collar nerd. Hey, have you ever heard of a hackathon? A hackathon is an event, a sort of contest that software companies will have. Sometimes it's sort of like the. The software equivalent of like a 48 hour film festival, if you've ever heard of one of those. Basically, people get a little team together, they identify a problem, and then they build something in a short amount of time to solve that problem. Then people present what they've built, and sometimes those things make it into the product. For example, Service Titan has an annual hackathon, and a lot of things that are in Service Titan stemmed from hackathon projects. For example, the quick navigation, where you hit the slash anywhere in Service Titan and type in what you want to go to and it quickly navigates you to that area of Service Titan. That was a hackathon project. And this year, as part of Pantheon, Service Titan wants to have a hackathon that involves you, the users. And so I present to you the Pantheon hack. The on Hackathon, it's Bahi's fault. So if you have an idea for something that you always wish was built into Service Titan, now's your chance. There is a form in the description box down below that you can click to submit your hackathon idea. If selected, you'll be paired with your very own hackathon team. You'll refine the concept together, and then you'll get this thing built. The projects will be completed ahead of Pantheon, and then on day two of Pantheon, the selected projects will be presented. Now, just to make sure that we're all on the same page here, the whole idea of a hackathon is to build something that's cool and solves a problem, but. But to build it with a small team in a relatively short amount of time. So if your idea is like, well, yeah, yeah, I wish they would finish the Office app, yeah, we know that's a huge undertaking that's not gonna happen as a hackathon project. That said, if you just totally have no idea how much work would go into building your idea, just go ahead and submit it. Worst case scenario, it just doesn't get selected. Again, the form to submit those ideas is in the description box down below. And I look forward to seeing you all at Pantheon. Appreciate it. Pe Sam.
