ServiceTitan Trick To Clean Up Your Emails & Texts!

This short YouTube tutorial (hosted by Richard Coburg, the “blue collar nerd”) demonstrates how to make cleaner, professional-looking hyperlinks inside ServiceTitan (or similar) emails by using a simple HTML link-construction website to produce an <a href="..."> snippet, then pasting that HTML into the email template. The video also shows how to add emojis (via emojipedia.com) and basic HTML formatting (<b>, <i>) for emphasis, explains that HTML won’t work inside SMS, and recommends using a URL shortener (bitly) plus brief two-way-messaging copy and hours to improve SMS engagement.
What's going on, everybody? It's Richard Coburg here, the blue collar nerd. If you're using a software like ServiceTitan to send out emails to your clients, it's a great professional touch to have hyperlinks in your emails, say to a referral page or maybe a coupon to an offer you're having right now. But it's much more professional looking to have the link look like this than like this. So how do we do that? You know, if we open up the Service Titan email settings here, I don't see any way to do that. Well, the answer is that we have to use a little bit of HTML code. Don't close out the video. Don't close out the video just because I said code. I see you trying to close out the video just because I said code. Hang on. It's not that hard. It's not that hard. In fact, I'm not even going to make you do it. We're just going to use a website that just kind of makes it for us. So the first thing I want you to do is to go into your email settings of Service Titan or whatever software you're using, and in a separate tab or window, pull up whatever page you're trying to link to. In this example, I'm going to use a referral page. Now copy the URL of whatever you're trying to link to and go to this website. I'm going to have a link down in the description below. Now you're just going to paste that into this target URL field.
Boom.
Like that. And then as display text. That's whatever text you want to show up. So for this example, I'm going to say earn cash by referring a friend. Okay. Then we're going to click Construct link. And down here, this is what it's going to look like. This is your HTML code. We're just going to copy that, go back into our Service Titan email and paste it in.
Boom.
Now, you can see in our preview here, it looks like a link like we want it to earn cash by referring a friend and clicking that would open up the page.
Cool.
If you really want to spice it up, I recommend maybe throwing in an emoji. So let's go over to emojipedia.com and we'll just search for. Let's use a star. Yeah, I like that glowing star. So I'm just going to copy that, grab it here, and I'm going to paste it right at the beginning of where the code starts.
Boom.
Now it looks like that little star earn cash by referring a friend. Looks a lot better. Now, using HTML code, you can also do things like make text bold or italicize. And I'll show you how to do that now. So let's say up here where it says hi customer name, let's say we wanted that to be bold. Okay, so we're going to use this guy. What's that? Less than and then B. And then close that and then type whatever you want to use. So in this case it's already there. Hi whoever. And then same thing, less than.
B.
Close it up. Now as you can see down here, that's bold. Now if I wanted it to be italicized, same exact thing, but I instead of B. So I would just turn that B into an I and turn that B into an I. And now you can see down in my preview, it's italicized, hi John Doe. Now, unfortunately, HTML code does not work in text messages. So if you want to use a link to a coupon or something in a text message, this method won't work. But what I would recommend is using some sort of URL shortener to at least clean it up and make it not so long and messy looking. The most popular one that I see around is bitly bit.ly and you just go to bitly.com I'll put a link in the description below and in this box here where it says shorten your link. You're just going to paste your link and click shorten and then you get this shortened version. You hit copy, go over to your text message that you're wanting to send and you can paste that in here. And it's going to be a lot cleaner than using the full URL by the way. For you service titan users who are using the new two way messaging feature, I highly recommend adding something like this to the end of your text messages Reply back to make any changes that really increases the engagement so that people know that they can in fact reply to this if you want to. You can also include your hours that you're actually replying to make sure that there's no misunderstanding if somebody texts you after hours for text messages, I also highly recommend throwing in an emoji or two. Don't overdo it. But it does help give some personality and break up the wall of text again. I use emojipedia.com to kind of search for something, find what I like and just copy and paste. Anyways, that's all I've got for today. Links, everything that I showed you in this video is going to be down in the description below. Let me know what you think. Make sure to subscribe to the channel hit like if you like the video. I'll talk to you guys next time. Thanks.
