Hey everyone, welcome to PTSD TV. Today is Friday, so today is our Q&A, and this episode of PTSD TV is sponsored by Broken to Unbreakable, which is my PTSD and CPTSD recovery program. So for those of you who don't know me, my name is Kayleen. I had CPTSD for over 15 years and now no longer do, and now I'm a recovery coach, so I help people all around the world recover from their own PTSD and CPTSD. And this lovely man to my right here is— Brad Schipke.
Brad Shipke. I am her significant other, and I also had PTSD and fully recovered from it and was there for every step of Kayleen's journey as well, from broken to unbreakable. And, um, I'm very excited to talk about this, um, today's Q&A, because it's a great question. It's something that I actually personally struggled with for most of— I wasn't going to say my life, but like the entirety of my recovery journey. This was like a huge problem. So like I'm really excited to dig into this because this would have helped me so much in the past.
Yeah, this is huge. And there's a lot of resources that kind of go with this episode because there's, there's a lot to it.
So yeah, we give you a lot of tools.
The question today is— we'll jump right in.
Yeah, yeah.
The question today is, I wake up in physical fear most mornings. How do I calm myself down? So a great question. This is something that a lot of people struggle with. It's something that I struggled with. It's something that I know that you just said that you struggled with.
Oh yeah.
So it's a huge issue. So something that I did at the end of last year is wrote a book. I wrote the book on anxiety relief tools, right? So the 3 best that I found that work the most consistently, the best throughout, you know, the, the widest group of people. So these are just the tools that they, they work, they're proven to work, they're the most amazing, the most effective, right?
Yeah.
And so of, you know, working with people all over the place and with Of course, in our own recovery journeys, these are the tools that work. And so for those of you who are on YouTube, you can see that I'm pointing to a little kind of booklet here that I released, and I give it away for free. But also what I'm doing today for you guys is I'm giving away a video program that goes with it. So I'm going to just briefly talk about the tools today. But step 1 to this, you know, I wake up in physical fear most mornings. How do I calm myself down? is to start to implement these tools. And I'll explain again a little more in a sec, but down below this video, there's going to be a link where you can create an account for a free— it's, it's a free program and it's where I explain these tools in detail. So it's going to be me in front of the whiteboard teaching them. And absolutely, you're going to want these in your toolbox, right? I mean, these are—
Yeah.
They're almost magical. Like, they are so, so amazing. I can't say enough good things about them.
Yeah, yeah. And literally, this has been proven with people from around the world, with thousands of people, and it's changed their lives. So, like, people who couldn't, like, leave the house— so, like, these things are, like, perfect for what we're talking about today, like waking up in a physical fear. Like, these things will help you calm you down. And these were the things that really changed me. First of all, being able to fall asleep in a calm state. Like, my heart would be pounding like crazy.
Mm-hmm.
And I had no idea how to calm it down, but these things in here were able to calm me down so I could actually, first of all, get to sleep. But then I'd always wake up with that pounding anxiety, fearful, um, feeling, and these would again help me calm myself down in the morning so I could actually get on with my day and it wouldn't infect the rest of my day and it wouldn't cause me to, you know, sometimes it would take hours just to get the day started, right?
Mm-hmm.
And like, you would just be like, I don't even wanna get outta bed because of this anxiety, or you beat yourself up and you start a spiral. Right when you get out of bed, right? You're like, like, dang it, why does this keep happening? Why do I keep waking up like this? So like, check out these free tools. They're free, 100% free. You just have to create an account to access the program, and, um, it will literally change your life. The first one, watch the first— here's what you should do: watch the first video, create, create an account, watch the first video in there, and then test it out, and you will see relief you've never felt before.
It's amazing.
In, in 2 minutes, literally 2 minutes, you'll be like, oh my God. And then you'll, you'll get the rest of them and you'll be like, this is amazing. This might be the best thing that ever happened to me.
Ever happened, right?
Yeah.
And so for those of you who like, like books, if you want the book, I also give the book away for free.
It's—
you just have to pay for shipping. So that's the only thing. We ship them anywhere in the world. Um, so the 3 tools, uh, you know, the first tool is how, like, short-term relief, like relief right now. And this, this is the tool that For a lot of— well, it's really easy to implement, which is really important. And for a lot of people, it literally is, is the most amazing thing they, they, they do ever, right? Especially if you've been struggling with anxiety, which, right, many of us have, or just even if you don't have PTSD, right? It's a normal thing. So the first tool in here, it's called the butterfly hug. And when I teach it to my clients, they always reach back out and they're like, oh my gosh, like, I can't even believe that. Like, I can leave the house now. I can go to the movies. I can go to the grocery store. I can go back to the gym. Like, yeah, it will change literally everything for you. So that is like the just— it's just right out the gate. Yeah, you do this, you use this tool effectively and in the way that I teach you in that program, and it's gonna, it's gonna, it's gonna flip your world completely upside down.
Yeah. Yeah. And it's not just Anxiety. This is kind of like targeted for anxiety, um, because that's the biggest thing that people struggle with. But also is with stress, panic, and fear, like the heart palpitations, the sleep problems, those uncontrollable thoughts. It helps calm those down, calm those down. When you have like that shortness of breath and the panic attack coming on, it calms that down. That like the tense muscle feeling and the brain fog and everything. So like, it's really— it's like it covers everything across the board. So like, take the time to— and you can do it literally Anywhere, and it will help you— oh my gosh.
Yeah, you can do it in public, which is cool. Yeah. Um, so that, that is just like right out the gate, it's gonna, it's gonna calm you down.
Yeah.
And then we have like a deep relaxation tool, and a lot of people know this but don't use it quite effectively. Um, so this is called a mind palace. So some people might have heard of this before, and It's a really amazing activity if you do it right. And this is again like kind of a longer-term, um, I guess kind of a medium-term, whatever, like kind of relief. So this is something you need to— It just takes a little longer, right? It takes a little bit longer. You just have to kind of be more active about like creating it, building the foundation for this one. Um, so that is amazing, and I explain that in detail in the video program as well. And it is really, again, if you do it properly, it's not that daunting, right? It's not that big of a task.
No.
And if you build it right, you can also get just like amazing, amazing, amazing relief really, really fast.
Yeah, yeah.
Especially for when you're laying in bed. Or, you know, the question is, you know, I wake up in physical fear. Or if you're going to bed and you're afraid, and that is a great way to kind of drift into sleep. to fall asleep, which is something that I talk about and something that we're going to talk about in our next point here. Absolutely amazing.
Yeah, yeah, because it ties together, right? So like the way you go to sleep is going to affect the way that you wake up. So if you can get kind of ahead of it and help yourself fall asleep better, which again leads into our second point here, which is how to establish an effective nightly routine, right? So like these tools, you'll use these in every aspect of your life. Especially the first one, the butterfly hug. But you'll also use these to craft an effective nightly routine, and then you can also use it in your morning routine while in the morning to calm yourself down from those physical fears.
Yeah.
And Kayleen, right, she wrote an effective— she, she has given you, right, she has written out a nightly routine that she and actually I personally use to calm ourselves down before sleep. Right? Because like, like I just said, like, how your— how you fall asleep is going to maybe not dictate how you wake up, but it's going to affect how you wake up, right?
Especially if, like, you know, this is again specifically— I wake up in physical fear most mornings. But like, I know a lot for you, it was like, I wake up just like, not with like a nightmare or anything for you, but you were just like, I wake up in the middle of the night and I'm just like, I can't I can't fall back down and I can't fall back to sleep, but it's not time to get up yet. So it will, it will change everything, especially if— and I know this is a huge, huge issue with sleep, this group.
Yeah.
Um, yeah, so establishing the effective nightly routine, again, something really simple that will change your world. And something that, um, I released this a while ago and I did another kind of video on it explaining it, and there's a PDF download and I'll put the link to to that video and the PDF to download below. But like people reach out and they're always like, oh my gosh, like I've been doing everything opposite of what you just explained, like, and thinking it was good for me. And so some of the things I talk about are like, you know, no screens before bed or like setting screen time, setting a consistent bedtime, talking about like alcohol and stuff before bed, the kind of lights that you have, like everything.
Right.
affects your sleep. And truly and genuinely, sleep is like the most important thing that you can do for yourself and the most important thing that we have, right, as humans, to give us energy and to kind of continue our life on, right? Um, so, so that is, is so amazing. And then, you know, kind of what to do if, if you wake up in the middle of the night and, you know, this isn't quite enough to calm you down and you need to maybe step out. So that is something I talk about, you know, kind of when to step out of bed and when to just kind of, you know, go into the mind palace or, yeah, or do the butterfly hug and stuff like that. So that is a— it's a great resource.
Yeah, this episode is tool heavy.
It is tool heavy.
It is very tool heavy. So like, we're not gonna be giving you a lot of information, we're gonna be giving you a lot of tasks to do, right? So like, the first one is go to, um, the free program or order the free book and learn the 3 tools. The second one is go to Kayleen's blog post where she gives you step-by-step, a step-by-step video walking you through a nightly routine and how to create your own to help you get to sleep. But she also gives you a free kind of like cheat sheet that you can print out and keep next to your bed and walk through every single night. So those are your 2 tasks. Again, it's tool heavy and you'll get all the information there. They're, they're, they're not huge trainings, but like all in all, you know, it'll take you a little while to go through them.
But yeah, it will. And yeah, it will. It'll probably take, I don't know, maybe a half hour, you know, all in all. All in all. Yeah. And genuinely, if you invest that short amount of time, it's, it's gonna change your day-to-day so profoundly. Yeah, you're gonna, you're gonna be amazed. You're gonna reach out.
You're gonna be coming back all the time.
You're gonna be like, this, that was kind of ridiculous how much that changed and like just gave me relief and kind of saved me some of those nights and like Made those nights better and like just took the edge off.
And dude, no one's giving you— no one's giving you guys effective tools, right? You're told like coping skills, like, I don't know, like smell lavender or something that like, you know, like maybe may give you like a half a percent increase. But this thing will— these things will literally change you, change your lives. And we're giving you free trainings, free programs to go through these things. And, um, it's honestly truly amazing. And if you do invest 30 minutes You know, like it's gonna cost you nothing and it's gonna change your life. So like, please, please, please, please, please go sign up for this program. Go and see that free nightly routine that Kayleen made. It will change your life. Literally, it will change your life. You're gonna be able to actually sleep. You're gonna be able to wake up, calm yourself down. And I'm done trying to convince you guys because it's just truly amazing.
It really is. And that ripples out to every area, right? If you can get A little bit better night's sleep, if you can be a little bit calmer in the morning, you know, it may be like— especially for us, it'd be like you're going to be a little bit less likely to snap at that other person. Yeah, maybe if you're with someone, you're going to be able to—
Just imagine waking up and be able to calm yourself down. Yeah, or falling asleep calm. Like, when was the last time that happened for you guys?
Like, yeah, like, what would that look like? You know, like, genuinely, what would that look like? What would that feel like?
I still remember the first time, like, I woke up without, like, Feeling that physical fear, but the first time I also used these tools and I was like, oh my God! Incredible. Wow.
Wow.
Wow.
And so you know the most important part though is like these tools are going to help you and they are going to change your day to day dramatically. But at the end of the day, right, the most important thing to do is to heal that core. And you know if you heal that core, these things are going to kind of. it's gonna ripple out and these things are gonna go away on their own, right? So instead of having to calm yourself down— and this, this will give you the tools, right, to calm yourself down after a nightmare or after a flashback or a bad day, whatever it is. Um, instead of having to calm yourself down, you know, that won't happen in the first place. So that is the really important part, is these are amazing, they will change your life, but keep in mind that the core is the most important part. And if you can heal that core, everything gets better, right?
Right.
The relationships, the job, the career, the finances, the health, the physical being, like absolutely everything gets better.
Right.
And so actually right now, I don't think we've even told anyone this yet. I'm putting on a new training, a new recovery training. So I've just finished over the past couple of months putting together a slightly different recovery training than before. And I'm running it right now. We just started running it this week. And it is so amazing, right? I've tweaked it in a few ways that will just shift that belief even further and tip that scale even further for you to feel hope, feel belief, feel like people have your back. And I'm running that right now, so you can register for that.
Mm-hmm.
And we're gonna put the link below to that. And that really truly is the first and the best step that you can take to invest a couple of hours to watch the recovery training and And to work on healing that core. And I talk about 3 secrets. I talk about, you know, the, the name of the training is How to Heal Your PTSD Even If You've Suffered for Decades and Even If You Feel Completely Hopeless, right? And I talk about, you know, how to do that even if you don't even fully believe that it's possible. And I talk about, you know, how to face your past even though you're terrified of it and how I did it myself.
Mm-hmm.
And then how to stop that core, that PTSD, from infecting and controlling every area of your life.
Right, right. It's important to know, like, what we're talking about today. Um, we're answering the question, right? We're answering, you know, how do I calm myself down in the morning from the physical fear? But these tools that we are talking about is ultimately coping. And there's a big difference between coping with something, like managing the symptoms and relieving the symptoms. But if, like, but that's all it ever does, right? It never heals that center core, that centerpiece that has hurt. that you've been hurt in the past from. We're just like relieving the, the outside symptoms, which is like— we are teaching you these because these are important, right? It's important to get the right coping skills so you can, you know, get that relief on demand when you need it, so you can relax yourself. But if you only ever learn the coping skills, that's all you'll ever do. You'll be able to learn how to calm yourself down. You won't actually be calm. all the time. You won't actually heal that core. And that's exactly what Kayleen talks about in the free training that she just talked about, the brand new one that she's running. So, you know, we're, we're throwing a lot at you this episode, right?
This is like—
this is too heavy.
Yeah, open a bunch of other tabs.
And yeah, yeah, open up 3 tabs, one for the free tools, one for the nightly routine, and one for the free training, and do them all and it will change your life. We're like, we want to give these all to you and be like, this is what you need to do, please. Please just learn it. Please learn it and implement it. And you have to take action on this stuff, right? Like you're showing up once, right? You're showing up and you're listening, but then you have to show up again and actually do the work, right?
Mm-hmm.
You have to show up again. And that's when it gets hard, right? It's easy to press play. It's hard to actually implement things into your life. All right. But it's actually not that hard because you are going to see results so fast from the little bit of action that you put in that you are going to be hooked and you are going to Keep implementing and eventually get to Kayleen's status, which is an implementation master. I coined that because she is an implementation master, because it's always so amazing how like she can learn something or hear something and just like boom, apply it to her life and crush it. So like, that's really what you're going for is like you want to implement, you want to learn, implement, learn, implement, learn, implement, and it'll change your life.
It will change your life. It will. And it honestly, it'll make your head spin. The tools are so amazing. And like Brad said, like It's parts of a whole, and you do need the relief to— I have lotion in my eye for those of you watching on YouTube. You do need the relief to, you know, be able to kind of like watch the training and sit down and do the recovery training. And, you know, to be able to even be calm, you can do some of these tools while you watch the training. So this— it is, it is tool-heavy, but that is kind of what we have for you today.
Yeah.
Is go either— if you're a book person, I'll ship you the book. If you just help with the shipping cost, or if you're— and you also, obviously, the video program goes with that. But definitely go below and the free video program will change your life, right?
Yeah.
And I explain all the 3 tools. You get to see me teaching, which is great. And then go and watch the effective nightly routine video and use these tools to craft that nightly routine. And I give you that cheat sheet and and read the blog on it, and then watch the training, the new training, the new recovery training. It will change everything for you. It really genuinely will. People always reach out. I get amazing feedback every time I do it. And they reach out and they're like, well, dang. Well, okay. Got it. Right? So you're going to feel hope. You're going to feel like other people have your back, even though we may never meet each other.
Yeah, we see shifts in people just from watching the training, from like, I am completely hopeless. I feel like I'm falling into like— You know, a deep dark hole, right? To like, oh my gosh, I feel hope. I feel like I can do this for like the first time. I see it.
Yeah, because when people reach out, a lot of times they'll email me and will email like before they watch the training.
Yeah, it's incredible.
Like, hey, you know, like this is what's going on and this is how I feel, right? And like you said, I feel like I'm falling into a deep dark hole. And then like, you know, after they watch the training, they reach out and they're like, hey, when I recover I'm gonna help a lot of people when, right? And so that, that little shift in words, when I recover from like, I'm feeling completely hopeless, I like, I don't know what to do, I don't know that I can keep doing this, to when I recover, I'm gonna help a lot of people, is, is genuinely amazing. It's— yeah, I wish I could be there with you. You have to watch it.
And, and the coolest part about all this stuff and everything that we're doing is like, you could spend tens of thousands of dollars on like going to therapists and stuff and never learn these tools, right? Like, I would go to therapy— I'm just— I'll talk about my personal experiences. I would go to therapy, and maybe you guys have had similar experiences too. And like, I would go for like weeks and weeks, and I would get like a breathing exercise, and we would just like talk, right? But I'm like, I need more. Like, I— like, I need to make like progress faster. And like, if you guys want to like make that progress faster, like, you get to basically skip this whole section of our lives, which caused, like, which, um, where we were discovering these tools and all these things. You get to skip years, right? Just by, like, taking a simple free program on these 3 tools, right?
Mmhmm.
You get to go through years of therapy, right, that took us. Therapy and, like, all these books back here, right? Reading through, finding these tools, and then testing them, and then, like, sharing them with other people, and then, like, finding out that, like, some worked with some people and some didn't, and then really, like, narrowing it down to the top 3, that worked with everybody. And like, you get to skip years of that reading, like dozens and dozens and dozens of books, you know, hundreds of hours in like 30 minutes.
It's a pretty great shortcut.
So like, please do it. Please do it. Like, these are things that like, yeah. And we pulled it from so many different sources. You won't find this. You literally will not find this anywhere else. Any of these things.
Yeah.
So please take the time.
It's amazing. Yeah.
Yeah.
We always look back. We always have conversations after, after these episodes or after the day of work. And we always talk to each other and we say like, like, dang, like if we wish that we had this, you know, it's like sometimes it's kind of frustrating. It's like we would have saved years. We would have, you know, just, it would have, it would have been amazing to have these things, to have these tools, to have this knowledge, to have that video, to have that episode. And we're jealous. At the end of the day, we're jealous.
Yeah. Yeah.
So, but that is what we have for you today. So we're gonna put all those links below. So again, check out the 3 tools, definitely watch the trainings on that, check out the nightly routine video, and then go watch the free recovery training and it will change your life.
Yes.
Some final words?
That's it.
That's it. Do it, do it, do it. If you love us or you hate us, make sure you rate us. Make sure you like, comment, subscribe. Do all that stuff. Rating us, liking, commenting, subscribing, sharing, maybe sharing in Facebook groups, whatever it is, helps us reach more people, which helps us, you know, give things like this to more people to get these people relief, right? For you and loved ones. And so make sure, you know, again, sharing, liking, subscribing, even if you don't like us.
Yeah. Yeah. If you've gotten benefit from these videos or these podcasts, And from the programs that we're giving you and the tools that we're giving you, and you want more, subscribe.
Yeah.
And share it with people that you think would benefit from it as well. Because like, we're doing this, we're doing this podcast, we're putting all this effort into the podcast to really change the world, right? And we do that one person at a time. But when we can reach you, one person, and you can share it with one person, and then that person shares it with one person, or even like, even better, You share it with 2 people, they share it with 2 people and just exponentially grows. And we can literally change the world, literally just person by person. So if you find all these tools helpful, share the link with somebody. Um, I know you'll find it helpful. So like, when you find it helpful, share it with somebody. And our goal, our mission is to literally change the world. Right.
And here's the question, right? Who do you know that would benefit from this episode or from this podcast or from these tools? Who do you know in your life? That would benefit from this? And that is the question, right? And so if someone just came to mind, send them a text, you know, let them know, send them a link, and, uh, we'll change the world one person at a time.
I think there's like a share button in the, um, Apple Podcasts or on YouTube and stuff that you can share like a link, email it to somebody or something.
All right.
Yeah, Kayleen's got lotion. I don't know how that happened.
Midway through.
But I think that's it. That's all we have for today. Thank you so much for showing up. Keep showing up, keep doing the work, get the tools, implement them, change your lives, and let's change the world.
And then come back.
And then come back.
All right.
All right, we love you guys.
We'll see you on Monday.
All right, bye-bye.
Bye-bye.
