GrooveKart Review & Interview with Mike Filsaime (Game Changing!)

Casual on-location interview (Mission Beach) where Brad Costanzo interviews Mike Filsaime about GrooveKart (aka Groove Cart), an e-commerce platform positioned as a marketer-focused, lower-cost alternative to Shopify. Hey. Hey.
Sitting here on Mission beach with one and only Mike. Phil.
Same.
We're out here, it's a beautiful day and we're talking about E commerce. We're talking about a really disruptive software that is coming to the or has come to the E commerce platform. And Mike Filsaim is one of the co founders of Groove Card.
That's right.
So Mike, I just wanted to take a few moments while we're here hanging out and ask you about what groovekart is, why it's so disruptive and what you're really trying to do. Because I think a lot of the viewers may understand a little bit about E commerce. Maybe they're familiar with Shopify, BigCommerce and whatnot, but when you're selling physical products in mass. So tell me a little bit about Groove Card.
Yeah, thanks. Hello everyone. You know, as Brad said, I think it's pretty much common knowledge now that E commerce is a great form of marketing and most people that I know have some form of E commerce built into their business. And more and more I'm seeing more people full time doing E commerce. I used to do digital marketing. We have for digital marketing Traffic and Conversion Summit. Now Ryan and Perry and the guys over there at Digital Marketer have come out with content and commerce and selling those things out every year. And it's incredible how successful people can be building six figure monthly stores. But the thing is I looked at the market, talked to a lot of different people and there's one player in the game and they're Shopify and they're pretty good.
I've got two Shopify stores myself.
Yeah. And I would say they get the job done. They're intuitive. But where we looked at the market, where we saw they were lacking was their business model was pretty interesting. They wanted to go out with a starter pack. But basically if you're any type of e commerce market, you're going to be using their $299 a month option. But then from there they wanted to basically build an app store and just be agnostic. Oh, you want the upsell feature, go pay $39 a month with this guy. You want the shipping feature, the aliexpress feature, you want the retargeting feature, you want the wheelie o the coupon feature and all of these things.
Death by a thousand paper cuts. It reminds me of flying on spirit lines when they're like oh, you want oxygen in, actually want a seat, you want this, you want, you want it to actually do everything.
You want it to do, you got to pay extra. Exactly. Right. Oh, you actually wanted a window in your window seat. Okay. So, you know, it's a great model for Shopify. Let's talk about their success. 500,000 customers, value of $1.2 billion. They're expected to triple their size in the next four, five years. So we saw that as a great market that we wanted to be into, but we didn't want to compete just for the sake of competing. We wanted to do what we always do with our software platforms. Ask what is the pain points in the market. And it's pretty simple. What we found is that, hey, you can make a lot of money with Shopify, but that doesn't mean that you have to pay just to pay. My friend and partner, John Cornetta, he pays over $850 per month for all of his his apps tied in with Shopify. I know some people paying 1450amonth. I know some apps that cost just $299 a month. I look at and I'm like, that's, that's a pretty simple app, but.
And it's a staple. It's something you need. It's relatively simple and it costs so much money.
Yeah. So what we've done is we will also have an app store, but we're, we're going to be launching that probably a few months after we launch. Our goal first is to create an easy to use more affordable and more effective store that you can use that will outperform your Shopify store. Now, it's a bold statement, but I think I've earned the right to do that. We created webinar jam. 40,000 users compared to GoToWebinar. We had an EverWebinar. We over just a few months put the leading platform right into second place. My former company that I was part of, our vision with Kartra, you know, is to compete with infusionsoft.
Big fan.
People absolutely love it. You love it. You know, thousands of customers now using it. So I think I've earned the right to say, you know, when we're going into market, we take it pretty seriously. We're not just building a little app. So we're going to be more affordable. Probably with the specials that we'll have during the launch are going to be under $50 a month. It will be paid annually, about 497 will be the annual price. But we're going to include 22 native apps already included in Groove Cart that you pay separately for. So you're not going to have to Pay separately for.
That's fantastic. You know the other thing I like is that because I know we've talked privately about what Groove Cart is going to have and it's going to have a lot of the features that sophisticated marketers like myself, like Mike know and love and realize that it's a make or break for a business. Oftentimes everything from creating funnels, actual like one click upsells, etc. Right.
That's exactly it. Like you know, very great E commerce marketer, good leader in the industry. Someone I know, not very well, but someone I know, Ezra Firestone, I'm sure you've known the name as well. He has Zipify pages. Great product in Shopify and if you're using Shopify, you should use it. We're going to be incorporating those things for free into, into Groove Cart. We're going to have different templates. We're going to have people that can publish templates. We're gonna have upsells and down sells, one click Stripe integration, PayPal, authorized.net countdown timers. People that bought this also bought this. All those types of things that you know that you want. One click import your Shopify store over. That's beautiful. And the reason why we're so far ahead of this already is the partner that I have doing this. He's. He was, I wonder if I should say, I think it's okay to say, say this now. It'll be public by the time this video is live.
We are filming this pre release.
Yeah. Matt is the co founder of a company called Prestashops and I don't know the numbers but I think they've got something like over 50,000 or could be 500,000. I forget the number installations out there and they were a free model but everything was a paid add on like so it was like getting Stripe for Shopify free but then all these other paid add ons. So what he did is he sold that company and for the last two and a half years he's been building this platform. So this is a guy that completely knows what the platform should be because he's already built one of the most popular platforms. So we're ahead of it, we're solid. My other partner, John Cornetta is a guy that does $150,000 a month in E commerce. So we're going to be having training courses. We've got some other apps that layer products and sneakers and handbags with all these different awesome prints and stuff. It's, it's really exciting. I can't Wait for you guys to really see more about it.
That's super cool. I mean, I can't wait to get my hands on it. As I said, I've got, I've got a couple of Shopify sites and E commerce is not the biggest part of my business. I bought one company last year and we've introduced E commerce to it and we're going to be scaling that soon. But I'm almost like, let's pause because I want to do this on Groove Cart because. And you mentioned Kartra Webinar Jam and Ever Webinar and some of the stuff software that, you know, you really did disrupt the industry and became, you know, the go to choice of sasses for like real marketers, not just business people who are living and dying by the numbers and by conversion and making sure.
That.
What you're doing doesn't just do the basic job but gets you the results we want. Because as we know, ads are getting more expensive these days and things are getting harder to sell. So every little edge helps. And I think it's so cool that we're seeing technology leapfrog and make it easier for people like us. I mean, when we started in this game, it was so hard to. I mean, it was easy to make money online because a lot of people weren't doing it. But it was so hard technically.
It was hard technically. Now it's what we call rapid development, rapid progress, rapid marketing. And that's what we want to bring with Groove Cart, Kartra, Webinar Jam Everwebinar. I was proud to be, you know, part of that. A lot of credit, you know, goes to my former partners, Andy and Hector. I sold that business and wanted to, you know, go into a completely different space with some new partners. And we're excited to, you know, to disrupt the space. I think because we're going to be combining education like we did with Webinar Jam and teaching people webinars. I think you're going to be seeing us on the scenes with, you know, with, you know, Groove Cart Con and you know, big commerce speakers. We're going to become big players in the game, but we're going to focus like kind of like what ClickFunnels did for, you know, making, making our niche of people that know how to market and getting away from people that just want to sell Hummels. Real marketers that need a real solution made for marketers and we understand what changing the color on a countdown timer does and, and all those different types of things without having to be nickeled and dimed for it. We're very excited about it. Obviously, Brad's got a special link somewhere around.
It'll be. I may put it somewhere in here. Like maybe right here, if my editor will do that.
Give you a little view of this little beach here.
Yes, we got a little Mission beach action. Sunset is a few hours away, but is it Margarita time?
I think it's Margarita time.
It's Margarita time. See you guys soon. And check out group card.
