The Birth Of Bacon Wrapped Business with Brad Costanzo

This is a YouTube interview excerpt in which Brad Costanzo describes his reinvention after selling his business (about 1.5 years earlier), moving from Dallas to San Diego, and shifting into consulting—helping primarily businesses at $1M+ and some early-stage entrepreneurs. He explains why he started a podcast: to build thought leadership, reach unreachable guests, expand his network, give back, and package his business advice with an entertaining, memorable brand. He reveals the podcast name, "Bacon Wrapped Business with Brad Costanzo," explains the bacon metaphor (wrapping advice in his unique spin), discusses branding/marketing goals (memes, curiosity), and asks the audience to support the show (follow, review, share). The tone is informal, promotional, and lighthearted.

So we'll, you know, have this information about the podcast. So check it out, write a review, help out our fellow buddy Brad here and tell us about, you know, as we kind of dive into the very last pillar, just a couple minutes on purpose. Tell us about how you're taking a pivot right now and you're kind of doing a little bit of reinventing with your podcast and the direction that it is and why you're starting it.
Yeah, so that's a great question. Since I sold my business, you know, a year and a half ago, it's really been a great reinvention story. I moved from Dallas to San Diego and the only, as opposed to just starting another business, I just wanted to use my skills to help other entrepreneurs do what they're doing better and some of them get started. I do tend to work with established businesses who are doing a million dollars and up, but I also work with people just kind of starting off and I really get fired up by helping to move the needle in somebody's life, whether it's in their business or their life, and seeing some, something that I know and that I've, you know, this hard fought knowledge turn somebody's life around and you know, I look like I'm a magician and they look, you know, they're able to do things they've never been able to do. And I've been able to mainly get that from consulting. And the reason I wanted to start the show is there's some, there's, there's some selfish reasons, you know, which is establishing more thought leadership of myself. And you know, one of the hardest parts, I know when we talked about this, you're like, you're involved in so many things. How do I really introduce you? What do you do? I think of you, Amazon guy. Yeah, I think of this, that and the other. But I wanted to show on my show that I'm much more than that as well. And this is kind of my broad based Way to give back. To take all of. I'm a voracious learner, I have tons of intellectual curiosity, I have a really good memory. So I file a lot of things away that I never even get a chance to use. And this is one of my ways to not only solve business problems, put a unique spin on them and give back, but also the selfish reasons is to build a platform for myself to reach out to some of the unreachable folks that I've always thought like, hey, now I've got a show, let me feature you, and let's do something together. And that's actually one of the great benefits of something like a podcast is it features networking, you've got a huge distribution now, and people are honored to be, like myself, honored to be on your show. So I know for myself it'll lead to more opportunities. But at the same time, if any of these shows ignite an idea or a change in somebody else's life and you know, the show's called Bacon Wrapped Business.
Is that what it's called?
Yeah. Bacon Wrapped Business with Brad Costanzo. The only show guaranteed to make fat profits. So you like that?
That is so good.
Cool. The only show guaranteed to make you fat profits. Exactly. So I came up with that. That name for a couple reasons. Number one is I do feel as though I think way out of the box and a lot of my friends, like, man, you're gonna have to do.
Are you gonna like every episode at least have one piece of bacon?
I should. Brought to you by Oscar Ma, but I will. I've already thought about the intro. Is gonna have this, like, it's gonna start off dancing, bacon, like sizzling and then music, I don't know. So we'll see. But that's all in the planning stages. But there's two reasons. So number one, everything's better with bacon, right? You wrap something you love in bacon, it's mind blowing. You wrap something you hate in bacon, it's pretty darn good now. So in my twisted world, bacon is my take and my. My advice and my take on a business challenge or problem. So you bring it to me, I'm gonna wrap it in bacon, which is put my unique twist on it. But more importantly, I didn't just want to do another show like the Brad Costanza show, the business hour. Brad, like, that's boring to me. I can't have fun with that if you're wrapped in bacon. I'm not wrapped in B. I have a bacon blanket. A bacon cape. Yeah, exactly. But I Thought, you know, if I do something like that. Actually where I did it is I listened to somebody else's podcast. It was a buddy of mine and I just posted it on Facebook. I'm like, that's some bacon wrap business advice right there. And when I wrote it, I was like, that's kind of catchy bacon wrap business advice. And it reminds me to have fun and not to take myself or the show too seriously, but you know, to make it good, but to make it entertaining. Because I don't want to do anything if it's not entertaining. And whether it's joking or having fun or just kind of keeping it light hearted, knacking on bacon. But that's also fun to say. And plus, I'm hoping if you're coming across the, you know, if you're looking for a good podcast to listen to and you come across blah, blah, blah, business, blah, blah, blah, so and so show Life on Fire with them definitely subscribing to that. And then bacon wrap business, like, what is it? Is that about bacon? Because if it is, I'm gonna listen to it. But then it's not. Maybe I'll have a bacon recipe on every show. I just thought it would grab somebody's curiosity.
It's unique, man. It's, it's, it's so, you know, it creates the visual and it's playful and fun and. Yeah, that's awesome. I haven't heard that somehow.
And you know, titles make a big difference. Going back to Amazon, the title of your book, it should be catchy and it should be memorable and it should have a brand behind it. And I was talking with another friend of mine, he goes, you know, your goal should be to create a real meme which is a real viral spreading idea that. Got a problem. Wrap it in bacon or man, that's a bacon wrap solution right there. Maybe I could have that kind of an impact on the world of marketing is that's some bacon wrap advice if I can. Well, you guys will, you guys will see me.
We're totally gonna have to have like the image for this episode be wrapped in bacon.
I'm thinking, I know we have to. I gotta get a bacon blanket though.
A bacon Snuggie. Yeah. Now that's the life on fire.
Yeah. So I walked in today, I don't know if that's on the show or not, but I walked in and you got this great Life on fire grab bag.
Gotta catch the Pay it Forward Friday where it was just a Brad wrapped in bacon cameo.
Yeah. So I'M gonna. That'd be great. That's. I'm gonna steal your thing. I'm just gonna hand somebody, like, a plate full of bacon when they walk in my house. Here you go. You're on bacon grab bag. So that's. That's kind of what I'm. One of the things I'm up to right now, amongst the, you know, million other stuff. But, dude, I love it.
I love it. Well, I mean, it's exciting stuff. Yeah, definitely. I want to wish you all the best of luck with this show. Appreciate it, and we're definitely gonna be supporting you, and I'm excited for, you know, to get more of your knowledge on a regular basis. And, guys, definitely check out Brad and help him out. He's very generous with his time and his.
