In this YouTube monologue, James Bradley, owner of Pan Pacific Interiors—a design and manufacturing firm based in Panama—discusses how the COVID‑19 lockdown has prompted his company to pause manufacturing while continuing design and pricing work. He explains that the forced downtime is being used to systematically review and improve internal systems, procedures, financial performance, personnel placement, and equipment effectiveness. Bradley emphasizes the importance of stepping back to evaluate operations, preparing for a busy post‑lockdown period, and adopting a resilient, optimistic mindset that views challenges as opportunities for growth. He encourages viewers to make the most of the mandatory pause, reinforcing the belief that what does not break a company will ultimately make it stronger.

Hi everyone, James Bradley here reaching out to you from sunny Panama. Actually have a design and manufacturing company, Pan Pacific Interiors, down here in Panama. Originally from Canada and we moved down here a few years ago just for a change. Well, change is upon us. The country's in lockdown. The government acted pretty swift and I think at the end of the day it's a good thing. It's going to allow us to get through this quicker. We're just taking advantage of the time, looking at our systems, looking at our procedures, looking at the numbers, what we've done this year so far, what we can do different, how we can improve things, you know, evaluating all the personnel in the company. Are they in the right place? Should we move things around? Equipment, you know, what's working, what's— what could be improved on? All of these things that, you know, I don't know that I often take the time to, you know, step back and look at. We're always so busy. So, you know, we know it's going to be busy once this all— we get through all this. And our goal is just to, you know, be as ready and prepared as possible. We're still pricing, we're still designing, which is great. We're just not manufacturing. So, you know, we'll have to— we're looking at that and what our plan is going to be once we get back. You know, I'm often reminded of the saying, life is a journey, not a destination. So enjoy the journey. And that's what we're doing. We're enjoying it as best we can. And making the most of it. Like I said, we don't often get these mandatory free times, so, you know, we've got to make the best of it. And what doesn't break us is only going to make us better, and we are definitely going to come out of this as a better company than we went into it. So take care out there. I hope everything works out the way you guys want, and take advantage of the time you have right now.
