A new SDR at GONG asked me for my absolute best advice starting out, so we found 30 minutes. It was a really awesome conversation, but I actually didn't share any good advice. See, I was never an str at gong and getting advice is often an opposite problem in SaaS. What I mean by that is too many people want to give you advice, even those that maybe have never done that role before. Instead, I shared with him three things I would do in his position and number one be a total sponge in onboarding. Come in with no assumptions and no ego. Number two outwork everyone in your starting class. Anything you can do to cut your own ramp time. It's a huge win. Anti hustle people won't like it, but there's no silver bullet for hard work when you're first starting out. Number three A few months in up level by learning from the absolute best SDRs at Gong, figure out who specifically are best at email cold calling, LinkedIn time management learn directly from them. See what you can apply to what you're already doing today. You can still learn from AES when the time is right for specific skills like discovery, time management or even top of funnel. But first things first. Focus on crushing the job you have first. Everything else will follow.
