Lessons from my 1st year in Enterprise Sales

In this brief talk, Brian LaManna reflects on his inaugural year as an enterprise salesperson (2025) and outlines five strategic changes that transformed his performance. He trimmed his prospect list from 300 to 50 accounts, focusing on 15 high‑potential targets and deep‑dive research with manual, highly relevant outreach. He instituted rigorous forecasting hygiene—accurate close dates, amounts, MEDDIC data, and strict methodology adherence—to protect the outsized impact of large deals. He expanded stakeholder engagement, multithreading across multiple CROs and using digital sales rooms and mutual success plans to align diverse decision‑makers. He deliberately slowed the early sales cycle, investing in longer discovery calls and reverse demos to map the buyer’s workflow before pitching the product, arguing that this “slow down to speed up” approach shortens the overall cycle. Finally, he emphasized internal alignment, treating himself as a quarterback who runs deal rooms in Slack, builds internal relationships, and practices gratitude, thereby enabling true team selling. The overall tone is conversational and enthusiastic, with a focus on practical, repeatable tactics for enterprise sales success.
