Brian LaManna (speaker) advises job candidates to treat interviews as two-way conversations rather than one-sided attempts to impress. He emphasizes being intentional with the limited time you get to ask questions—using pointed, specific queries to reveal insights about the role that broad questions won’t uncover.

One of the challenges in any form of interview is oftentimes you're trying and working so hard to impress the other side that really, with all of your preparation, it's more of how you're going to answer questions to them in terms of, you know, your biggest strengths, your biggest weaknesses, why you're qualified for this role. But what I found when I've gone through the interview process a couple different times at different companies was it's really important to keep it a two way interview at the same time and make sure that you're asking them questions. I think it's really important to be really intentional with your five minutes. You get to ask them questions with some different ones that can shed some light and shed some insight with really pointed questions into different areas of the job that, you know, you might not get just from a broader question.
