Brian LaManna explains how to improve group presentations without special skills: join five minutes early, greet the first person who arrives, and build a one-on-one connection. That early ally becomes a reliable voice who speaks up and answers questions, lifting participation for everyone else.

Here is the simplest zero-talent-needing strategy that's changed the course of some of my meetings. Show up 5 minutes early to any group presentation. Group presentations, they are notoriously difficult. Some folks on the call, they opt to just stay silent, or maybe they're even multitasking while you're presenting. Keeping engagement across any group is super challenging, but someone always joins the call first. Let them in right away. The easy way out that I've seen from other sellers, they might just stay quiet or they say, Oh, we can just sit tight until everyone joins, but it's a super valuable time to get to know them one-to-one before others join on. And now once that call starts, you now have someone in your corner. They're more likely to speak up and it's easy to tap them for a question when you need it. One engaged person can change your entire group call and now you can single thread them afterwards too.
