A Shopify expert debunks three conversion myths: more traffic doesn't mean more sales without optimization, pop-ups frustrate visitors more than they help, and A/B testing works once you hit 30,000 to 40,000 monthly sessions. Focus on qualified traffic and user experience instead.

Here's 3 of the top CRO myths busted. Number 1: a lot of people think that more traffic equals more sales. That's actually not true. I've seen a lot of stores that have a ton of traffic on there, but they're not converting at all. The reason being is because the traffic is not qualified, so it's not interested in their product. Their store is just not optimized itself, so the messaging, the offer itself, there's bugs on the website. So you need to get all of those elements down. Second thing that people say is pop-ups are essential to a store, but I've seen in many cases where people overdo it, which of course frustrates people when they come onto the websites, and that actually causes more people to bounce. So be careful with pop-ups. The third thing that people say is that A/B testing is only for big stores. Well, I disagree. Most important thing to indicate whether A/B testing is important for your store is if it's getting over about 30,000 to 40,000 sessions a month. If your store is getting more than that, then you should be doing A/B testing on your store because you'll have enough sample data to do your testing fast and efficient.
