Check out Fremont Street East, downtown Las Vegas's cooler, quirkier sibling to Fremont Street Experience. While the original Fremont Street dates back to 1905, this eastern extension kicked off its revival in 2002 as part of a city-led effort to bring nightlife and creativity back to Old Vegas. Now it's a buzzing 6-block district packed with eclectic bars, speakeasies, live music venues, and art-filled alleyways. Think retro neon signs, vintage motels turned cocktail lounges, and murals that double as photo ops. This is where you'll find nightlife spots like Backstage Bar and Billiards, We All Scream, and my favorite, Disco Pussy. Just a few blocks farther east, you'll find the iconic flame-throwing praying mantis at Container Park, as well as Atomic Liquors, which is the oldest freestanding bar in Las Vegas, open since 1952 and a favorite of the Rat Pack. Unlike the tourist-heavy Strip, Fremont East draws a local crowd and offers a more underground artsy vibe with no dress code. So if you're into neon nostalgia, wild dance floors, and unforgettable characters, Fremont East is a great option for a weekend of fun.
