Tal Vista Hotel in the Philippines is one of those places that instantly shows you why it's one of the country's most beloved vacation destinations. Opened in 1939, this iconic hotel has hosted visitors for over 8 decades. Honestly, the cloud-top panorama of the recently active Tal volcano is truly breathtaking. Located in Tagaytay, this spacious hotel was originally built by the Manila Hotel Company during the American colonial era, and it quickly became a must-visit for weekend retreats. During World War II, this Tudor-style hotel was occupied occupied by the Imperial Japanese Army and then later by U.S. forces as they marched through in 1945. Post-war, it returned to civilian use and gained some much-needed renovations. Inside, the lobby has this warm old-world elegance. It reminds me of a cozy mountain ski resort. During my visit, I spent time walking around the cliffside gardens with some of my local staff members and their husbands. We soaked in the views while taking photos in a giant picture frame installed on the patio. It was the perfect way to capture the moment with my wonderful hospitality team leader Leah and Rachel. Speaking of hospitality, the hotel staff made us feel like VIPs by giving us a private tour of the new lobby being built and then having a mariachi-style band serenade us while we munched on pastries and coffee. So if you want a historical, hospitable hotel with the best volcano view in the Philippines, Tal Vista Hotel is the move.
