Las Vegas is known for its over-the-top entertainment, and Mavericks, which is downtown's premier variety show, keeps that reputation alive. Launched in 2023 at the Plaza Hotel and Casino, this high-energy show is anything but ordinary. Expect comedy, magic, burlesque, circus acts, contortionists, live music, and even aerial performers, all packed into one unforgettable ride. It's hosted by Miss Behave, a former Guinness World Record-holding sword swallower with razor-sharp wit and bold style. Mavericks features a rotating cast of Vegas talent, including my good friend Trice B, the opera singer. But what really tickled my fancy were the unusual performances like the neurotic burlesque ballerina swan, the hula-hooping chicken, and the giant mechanical balloon animal rider. I guess I'm just a sucker for weird and sexy art. Shows run Wednesday through Sunday at 7 PM and a 9:30 PM late show on Saturdays. Tickets start at $49, which is well worth it for a night of raucous entertainment while supporting the only variety show on Fremont Follow for more offbeat Vegas.
