The NEW Rules of Day Trading (2026)

In this video Jesse Rogers argues that the conventional retail trading education—centered on market structure, support/resistance, and indicator‑based or ICT/Smart Money concepts—has been designed to sell courses rather than produce profitable traders. He explains how this flawed playbook creates a false sense of personal psychological failure, while the real issue is the lack of data‑driven, professional tools. Rogers outlines a shift to institutional‑grade workflows: using volume profile to see market positioning, options flow to anticipate dealer hedging, and order flow to confirm liquidity events. He demonstrates the practical impact of this approach with a $52,000 one‑day trade, supported by daily planning shared in a free Discord community. The video also critiques the industry’s reliance on complexity as a sales tactic, warns against over‑emphasizing mindset over strategy, and promotes a simple, honest, data‑first methodology enhanced by AI for rapid edge development. Viewers are invited to watch a companion video on foundational tools and to join the Discord for daily plans.

Most of what you were taught about trading is the exact reason you're unprofitable, and not because you're like a bad trader or something, but because the playbook you were given was built to sell you courses, not to make you a profitable trader. And here's the part that nobody realizes: following the wrong playbook doesn't just waste your money, it destroys how you think. It leaves you thinking that you're mentally broken, when in reality it's the system that was broken. The same system that took over in 2020 when millions of people rushed into trading And then right behind them came a wave of people selling courses on how to trade, mostly by traders with very little proof, but plenty of Discords and affiliate links. Most of it was total garbage. And by now I'm sure you realize that, but a lot of you are still suffering from that garbage in 2026. But something is happening right now that most people can't see yet. Traders are starting to wake up. The ones who survived got skeptical. They can tell who actually makes money trading and who doesn't. And the tools that institutions used to gatekeep are now open to all traders. So the whole game is shifting from retail trading to professional trading. And for the first time in history, the average trader can actually cross that line, which means that the old rules everybody learned on simply don't apply anymore. And I've been trading for 10 years, so I watched all of this happen and it took me 5 years to become profitable. Now my winning days look like this, this, and this, and I've been blessed enough to retire my parents and my wife before turning 30. But none of that would have been possible if I hadn't realized what I'm about to share with you in this video. So I'm going to walk through the old rules that stopped working and the new rules that replace them. And by the end, you'll know exactly which side of the fence you're on. So if the average retail trader got smarter, what was the first thing that they stopped falling for? Well, every beginner gets taught the same thing. First, you learn market structure, then support and resistance. And then somewhere along the line, you start to learn these indicators that promise to tell you when to buy and sell. Look, don't feel bad or be embarrassed. Like, everybody does it. I did it. It happens to everybody. But when most people kind of realized that indicators like this didn't work, they started to move on to something that sounded smarter, which was ICT and Smart Money Concepts. No pun intended there. Fair value gaps, order blocks, liquidity sweeps, all that. I traded it for years. And here's the thing: ICT is the new retail because everybody trades it. And to be clear, when you boil it down like I did, and like any profitable trader who actually made money trading ICT had to do, the concepts can work, just not the way that they are originally packaged. What it really came down to is that it just takes years of building discretion and doing things the hard way to make things like ICT work. And by the time you have a working system, you've completely rebuilt it and you've just pieced together price action trading. It's not even ICT anymore. But the irony with all this is that The idea behind ICT is 100% accurate. The whole point of ICT was knowing where people are positioned and where imbalances are. The idea was right, but the problem is that you were guessing at it without confirming it with data. I mean, you're basically out here fighting a war against an opponent that has, you know, machine guns and nukes while you're fighting with sticks and knives. But traders are now realizing that the tools that answer those questions directly are now sitting on the platforms that they already use. You want to know where people are positioned and what price the market considers fair? Well, Volume Profile literally shows you this with data. You want to know where the big forced moves are going to come from, who has to buy or sell, or if there's stop runs? Well, options flow and order flow can literally tell you this. Options flow shows you where dealers are forced to hedge, so you literally know when the market is likely going to be volatile and the exact levels to trade from. And if you think there's a liquidity sweep, well, order flow confirms it in real time. So you can actually watch these orders instead of just guessing from the shape of a candle or how fast the wick moves. And not to mention data analysis like journaling, testing, forming an edge, like all of these boring things that used to take hours, resulting in most traders not doing them. AI can now do in minutes. So it's the same questions that traders have always asked. The difference is that you used to have to guess or spend endless amounts of hours trying to figure this out. Now you can just validate it with data and do things much faster. For example, on this day I posted my daily plan, which I do every day in my free Discord before the open. So the volume profile showed me that we were bearish and that there were no positions built up under us, so a free fall was likely. On top of that, the options market showed me that we are likely to have an explosive day. Then I use order flow to confirm the idea, and it gave me an entry very easily, and also it gave me the confidence to let my trade run, and I was able to make $52,000 in one trading session. I would have never been able to have this confidence if it wasn't built on data. Now, I send out these plans every single morning in my free community. I'll leave a link in the description if you want to join. But none of this is because I'm a genius. It's because I stopped guessing and started actually using data. And then on top of that, yes, making money with data is great. But the big thing is the anxiety goes away. The anxiety that you usually feel in your trades is typically your brain correctly informing you that you're guessing. And the moment that you can actually see data and confirm what's happening, the guessing stops. You're going to hold your winners longer because you know why the move isn't done. You're going to take a loss and then not spiral because you know exactly what proved you wrong. And oftentimes you'll have an opportunity in the other direction. Before all this, traders just had to guess. Now you can see. But there is a huge trap waiting right here when you learn this stuff. And it's the reason that beginner traders often outperform advanced traders with years of experience. And I should put a air quotes on advanced, because just because you've had years of experience, you could still be unprofitable. But if you don't know how to avoid this problem, it will destroy you. Now, the trap is complexity, and the way past it is something that traders are just now waking up to. The things that were sold to you as complicated are actually really simple. All of it. The information was never the hard part. Implementation and execution are. But most creators don't make it that simple because simple hands you everything in a very short amount of time, and then there's nothing left to sell. Sell. So they make it harder than it has to be on purpose to leave more room for more content. This is why ICT drops a new mentorship every single year with some brand new ridiculously named concept. Please just always remember that anytime somebody makes something more complicated than it needs to be, there are only two reasons: either they don't understand it, or they're selling you something. That's it. And the old era of trading sold this complexity narrative because complicated is easier to sell courses on than profitable. So a lot of traders are waking up and figuring this out after many years. But there's one rule left. And if you're like most traders, this is going to be the hardest one to give up. It's the idea that your psychology is why you're unprofitable. And look, I want to start off by saying, yes, the mental side of trading is real. What's dying is retail's version of it. The claim that any strategy works if your mindset is right. Like, I literally saw a reel the other day that went viral, meaning people like this, and it said, "Any strategy works if your mindset is right." That's crazy. Okay, look, like, a great mindset cannot rescue a strategy that doesn't work. It just teaches you how to lose money calmly at best. For years now, working on your psychology has meant watching motivational videos and telling yourself that to be disciplined or I'll stick to the plan. And this may feel like progress, but that feeling of progress is exactly what keeps you from actually making progress. Which is why it became the perfect product. It can never fail. If the guru system loses, it was on you. You're not disciplined enough. You have a bad mindset. But a lot of people have woken up and realized that this is just an out whenever somebody's strategy doesn't work. If your strategy doesn't work, you should be anxious. No book or morning routine will turn that off because it isn't broken. It's like being mad at a fire alarm for telling you that the house is on fire. It just makes no sense. If I throw you in the lake and you can't swim and then I tell you to have a good mindset, you'll still drown. And I think most people are now realizing what professionals already knew. The mental game is more about performance data, your triggers, your patterns, your own numbers. Read that the same way that you read the market. Retail psychology asks you to feel better. Professional psychology asks you to know more about yourself. The idea that you're just mentally broken, it's just not true. Turns out it's much simpler. You just have to have an edge. Wow. Mind-blowing, right? You know, the loudest guy in the industry used to win. The Miami balcony bro, the rented cars, MetaTrader screenshots from some sketchy forex broker. For years, that's what printed money. But the audience got burned and now they want the rarest thing in this industry. The truth. The best comment I've ever gotten on this channel wasn't about a winning trade or getting funded. It was about somebody thanking me for being no nonsense because hype used to be honesty. Now honesty is the edge. So everything that this industry has sold you for years, the indicators, the strategies or concepts that don't work, the narrative that you are the problem, people are waking up and realizing that none of this is true. And it wasn't the industry that just admitted this. It was traders like you, the ones who got sick of being sold a dream. People stopped asking for payout screenshots or funded certificates Now they want to see broker statements, which is why I post my performance publicly from an actual regulated broker. Traders are done following whoever is loudest, and now they're going to be following whoever is honest and professional. They stopped collecting a bunch of complicated strategies and started reading the data that professionals use. The gurus are dying and the audience has now grown up. The rules of trading didn't get harder. There has never been a better time to become a trader. You have access to professional traders and institutional-grade tools for the first time in history. So you've got two choices. Either you could scroll back into the feed that's been farming you for years. It'll feel comfortable. It's designed to. Or you can decide today that you're done being a sheep. Real data, simple processes, and the honesty to look at your own numbers and do the boring work before rushing to mindset content. And look, I'm not promising you that you're going to get rich overnight once you make the shift. But traders are done being lied to and there are more and more traders who are making this shift every single day. The old era sold you a dream. The new era teaches you how to actually build a lifelong skill so you can pick your side. If you want to learn more about the system professional traders use, start with the foundation. I have a video that's going to be on your screen right now where I sat down with a trader live in person and taught him A to Z, everything from the volume profile basics to order flow, options flow. I taught him everything, and it's one of the most valuable videos on my channel. So I'll leave that on your screen. Remember to join the free Discord to get my daily plans, and I'll see you in the next video.
