Ep. 44: Spiritual Wealth Building with Meera Shireen Meyer
22 Dec 2025 · 18 min
In this promotional episode of the Prosperous Woman Podcast, host Claire Sellers interviews wealth advisor Meera Shireen Meyer, a Certified Financial Planner who runs a women‑focused investment firm. Meyer shares her unconventional path from corporate wealth management in San Francisco and Boulder to founding her own practice that speaks the language of women. The conversation frames money as a feminine, spiritual energy and critiques the gendered gatekeeping that makes finance feel inaccessible to many women. Meyer explains how investing is a human, relational act that shapes the world, and she introduces practical frameworks: a "bucket" metaphor for values‑aligned spending, the "Lean Luxe Budget" that prioritizes high‑impact expenses, and the power of compounding over time. Throughout, she emphasizes that money needs the investor, not the other way around, and that aligning spending with personal values creates both happiness and financial growth. The episode also promotes the upcoming Simple AF Biz Summit, a two‑day virtual event where Meyer will dive deeper into these topics and help women build wealth that supports their missions into 2026.

So many of us forget how human investing is. It's not just plugging something into a computer. There's somebody out there running a company who receives your investment and uses that money to hire somebody or to create technology or to do something. And so I think that if you think about the shape of our world, you can almost see how when money is in the hands of certain people, it gets shaped in a certain way.
Welcome to the Prosperous Woman Podcast. I'm Claire Sellers, a business mentor and coach who is absolutely obsessed with helping you create the business of your dreams and your most prosperous life. Tune in for inspiring conversations with extraordinary women that will propel you towards becoming a prosperous woman. Hello everyone. Welcome to The Prosperous Woman Show. I am so thrilled to be joined by wealth advisor Mira Shereen Meyer. She is going to be one of our featured guest experts at the Simple AF Biz Summit. Welcome, Mira.
Thank you so much for having me, Claire. I'm so happy to be here.
Yay. So I heard about your work several years ago and I've been following you and I just love the way that you talk about money, the way you work with money, the way that you work with women around money. And I just want to dig into all the things money in this little promo episode, which is really just giving people a taste of who you are, what you do, and how you help women. We're going to be doing an entire session at the Simple AF Biz Summit, so sign up for that to really go deep with Mira on all things making your money work for you and building a rich life in whatever way that looks like to you. So tell me, like, your story is very interesting, and I think people can really resonate with your journey of kind of having a more corporate background and then venturing into entrepreneurship and now empowering women and their wealth journey. So kind of like take us through your money story and your, your journey to now.
Yeah, you know, I had no intention of ever being a wealth advisor, a financial advisor. I'm a CFP®, Certified Financial Planner®. Like, I really thought that I was going to work in the nonprofit world, and I had no idea that I would one day own my own wealth management firm. So it's always kind of funny to think back about like how we used to be and how far we've come on our journey. Um, when I was living in San Francisco, I randomly interviewed for a finance job and, um, ended up getting it, working in wealth management, um, in a big firm in San Francisco. And then also we moved to Boulder, my husband and I, to start a family, and I worked for a firm out here, and I really loved it. But I also felt like there was not a place for me. I didn't feel like it was a good fit. I just always felt like I was not like all the other advisors. And so when I left there, I started consulting and a friend of mine was like, "You should start your own firm." And I was like, "I don't think I can. I feel like I'm not as buttoned up. I feel like I'm not as intense. Like, I'm not as masculine. I don't like wearing pantsuits. I just don't think I could do it." And she was like, "No, you know, like, I think that's why you should do it." Mm-hmm. I think there's probably a lot of people out there who would want an advisor like that. And that kind of got me thinking and I like just slowly started putting the pieces together. And the next thing I knew, I had my own investment management firm. And I really, what I love about my firm is that I work mostly with women and I work with people who, you know, truly want to understand money. Mm-hmm. And aren't interested in the jargon and aren't interested in, you know, the whole professionalism, masculine side of things. They just really want a partner when it comes to their money. And so I can have down-to-earth, grounded, honest conversations with my clients about what it means to build wealth, how to build wealth on your own terms, understanding money from a feminine point of view. It's very different being a woman and running a business than it is being a man and running a business. And so I really am so grateful that I'm able to support so many amazing women running their, you know, 7+ figure businesses and being their partner when it comes to building wealth.
When you say— thank you for sharing that. And when I just want to, before I forget, like when you say it's so different being a woman than being a man, like from your perspective, because you are, you know, literally in the, you know, in the money with all of these women that you're working with? Like, what is different from your perspective?
I think that for a lot of women, they didn't grow up having conversations around money. And I don't know if that's true for you, but it was definitely true for me. A lot of the finance conversations and the finance topics were kind of like left to the men. My mom would teach me, you know, other things, but learning about investing, learning about building wealth, learning about, you know, insurance and estate planning, all of those things, that never entered into conversation for me. And a lot of my male counterparts that I worked with, those were normal conversations that they were having around the dinner table and growing up and, you know, with their dads and colleagues and friends. And so I think for a lot of women, when you don't grow up knowing the language, it's really intimidating to enter into a conversation. I've seen so many people who meet with their CPAs and it's just like you're dreading this meeting because you know this person is gonna come at you and tell you things and maybe like talk about topics that you don't talk about on a daily basis. And so they're unfamiliar and then you feel like, well, maybe I'm supposed to know that and maybe there's a deficiency because I don't know that. It really is. I think it's like the world of finance is really gatekept and there's all of this like jargon and all of these different things that prevent anyone from entering unless they're native to that tongue, unless they've grown up around that kind of dialogue.
So it's so interesting like to just to think about, I was in a call for the Opulence Mastermind today and we were actually talking about money and I believe that money is a feminine energy. What do you think?
Um, yes, I could not agree more. I think money is a feminine energy. It's about exchanging of value. It's about creation. And actually, I think that investing is like one of the most feminine and spiritual things that there is because it really is— you have decided that there's another human being out there who's building something and you've decided that they're going to create more value in this world. And so you're willing to give them some of your resources so that they can go and create more value and then you get a return from that. And it's like you're really just like trusting in other human beings. You're collaborating with other people. You're seeing everybody as a piece of a bigger picture and we all kind of grow together. That's like, if you zoom out, that's what investing is. If you zoom in, it's trading and stock prices and all this stuff. But when you zoom out, it really is having this trust and having this, I don't know, vision that somebody else out there is going to build something and build value and create efficiencies and put something out into the world that wasn't there before. And you can be a part of that.
I just saw the image of the Tree of Life, you know, which is like such a feminine thing from the roots up, building, growing, growing wider, wider, wider.
Absolutely. No, I think money is so feminine. It's cyclical. Like we all see the business cycles and the market cycles, things going up and down. And as women, we're used to the cyclicality of things. So it doesn't scare us as much. We know that there's gonna be ebbs and flows and things are gonna go down and come back up. 100%. I agree with you when you say that money is feminine.
A spiritual teacher that I listened to, Billy Carson, he— I was listening to a podcast he was doing and he said money needs you way more than you need money. And it goes to what you're saying, which is that without a conduit, without a woman behind it or person, but we'll say woman, without a woman behind it, like what can it do?
It needs you.
And I think so many women, they flip the script thinking I need money, I need money, I need a client, I need a client. You know, I need, I need, I need. And when you can flip the script into money actually needs me and you're the magnet for it, that's when things start, you know, moving and grooving. And then you can start thinking beyond just meeting clients and into the land of investment and growth and all of those things. Hey gorgeous, I hit a point last year where I just couldn't do it anymore. The endless funnels, the fancy branding, the overcomplicated strategies, it all started to feel like a performance. That I did not want to be in, and I knew that I wasn't the only one. That's why I created the Simple AF Biz Summit, a 2-day virtual experience for badass women where we strip back all the noise and bring business back to what actually works. Because real business, the kind that feels good and makes a lot of money, is simple and it's purposeful and it's wildly prosperous when you stop trying to do it like everyone else. If you're ready to do less but make more and help more people and rise into 2026 with clarity and confidence about where you are headed with your mission and your movement, this is your invitation. Thank you. Join us inside the Simple AF Biz Summit. It's free, it's powerful, and it's going to change the way you do business forever.
I love that money needs you. I think that that is so powerful. And I think something that I tell my clients a lot too is that when we have more money, it's not like we are like taking these piles of money and putting 'em under our mattress or stuffing 'em in our pockets and we have more money. Money is always circulating. All around. And when we have more money, all we are doing is we're taking some of that decision-making power as to how it gets circulated.
Yes.
And so whoever has the money doesn't have it stuffed under their mattress. Most people who have money have it invested out in the world, right? It's invested in other companies or it's invested in actual material goods, things like that. They're deciding how that money flows. So when we as women have money, then we are the decision makers. We have the power to decide who's going to be able to utilize that money as a resource, how that money is going to affect and shape the world.
It's so true. And I wrote down what you said, investing is a spiritual practice.
Yeah, I really think it is. I think so many of us forget how human investing is. It's not just like plugging something into a computer. There's somebody out there running a company who receives your investment and uses that money to hire somebody or to create technology or to do something. And so I think that if you think about the shape of our world, you can almost see how when money is in the hands of certain people, it gets shaped in a certain way.
Yeah.
And if money maybe switches to other people's hands, it might get shaped in a different way.
Yeah. And, and that's a good segue into one thing that you'll be diving deep, deep into in the summit is your values in relationship to money. And we're not going to go like into this, but I just think it's really helpful for people to understand. Sometimes people are making money or they're not making money and they feel poor. You know, they don't feel quote rich because the money that's coming in or going out is not values aligned. So can you just speak to that very high level to give people like a little preview into what you'll be talking about?
Absolutely. I mean, I think that there are so many incredible things that we can do with our money. There's so much impact that we can make, and there's so much we can do for ourselves with our money. I was actually listening to a podcast a few months back, and it was talking about like, can money buy happiness? It was, I think it was like an NPR podcast. And they were talking about how initially there was a study that was done that said that, you know, once you make more than a certain amount of money, your money doesn't make you happier. But then they followed up with another study and they realized that people who use their money in a certain way actually are happier. So it's not about how much money you have, it's about how you actually utilize the money that you do have. If you direct that money towards the things that you value most, if you direct that money towards the things that make you happiest, your money is gonna make you feel richer.
Hmm.
If your money is leaking all over the place and you have it going out to things that you think you're supposed to be spending money on, but maybe that don't actually align with who you are or where you wanna go, then you're never gonna feel like you have enough. It's like you're just pouring into a bucket with a hole and everything's coming out the bottom and you're like, why is my bucket not filling up? And it's because that's the wrong bucket. You need to find the bucket that's actually aligned with what you care about in the world and the things that you wanna do in the world that you wanna see.
That's a very, I think, important and difficult conversation to have, to really look at what's money going out to, and is that actually adding to my life? Does that actually feel in alignment with not just who I am now, but who I'm becoming?
Mm-hmm.
And I think that when that is aligned, you actually start making more money because now money has a more open vessel to come into. And it's just like this whole amazing, like, prosperity chain reaction.
Absolutely. Absolutely. I think that for so many of us, we think that we need more money in order to achieve the lifestyle that's going to allow us to make more money. And the reality is we just need to align and tighten up. I have something called the Lean Luxe Budget, and it really is just what are the things that are most important in your life? What are the things that really move the needle. Those are the only things that you should be directing your resources towards. Everything else can go. If you want to have satin pajamas and satin sheets and the prettiest stoneware, then you're gonna not go grab sandwiches for lunch every day, right? And it's not a sacrifice, it's just a distinction between what you actually value.
Mm-hmm.
And I think for a lot of people, especially in today's kind of more consumeristic world, we see us not being able to buy everything as some kind of sacrifice.
Yeah.
But in reality, that's what's creating the feeling of us not feeling like we have enough.
Yeah. I tell my fiancé who, he's an investor and, you know, has a similar mindset to me, but I always joke with him. The two words we don't say are budget and afford.
Mm-hmm.
Because it's never about budget or afford. It's just, I'm choosing And it's not about, oh, this is so expensive. It's just I'm choosing to spend here because that feels more aligned to me right now.
Absolutely. Absolutely. I know for a long time I was like, no, we're never using the word budget because I think a lot of people have this constricted reaction to budget. It feels like you're— yeah. And so really it's like you have the agency to decide how you want to spend your money.
Yes.
And so make the decision based on what resources you have, make the decision how you want to spend. Prominent.
—empowered place.
Exactly. 100%.
Yeah. So if you guys aren't picking up on this vibe, it's going to be amazing. This is just a micro snippet of what we're going to be getting into inside the summit. Mira is going to be doing a whole session helping you get clear on your values related to money, helping you really lock in your Lean Luxe budget, what that looks like for you and how you'll be setting yourself up for wealth in 2026 by knowing where to put your money. It's one thing to make money, but it's another thing to know where to put it. And, and the things that you're doing now, even if you're in the early days of your business or if you're already at 7 figures, you can make your money multiply. Can you just speak to that quickly? Like just making one investment decision could create massive retirement funding in 30 years, right?
Absolutely. Absolutely. I think so many people forget that money compounds over time.
Yes.
Right now is the best time to set yourself up to become a millionaire just passively. Like obviously we're going to pour into our businesses and build our businesses up, but in the background of that, we can also be earning $1 million just through investing. And so why wouldn't you want to also have that channel so that someday you can take a year off and, you know, buy your dream house, whatever you want to do. I'm all for us pouring into our businesses, is, but also I think that we want to invest in our business, we want to invest in our current self, and we also want to invest in our future self.
100%. I love it. Well, I'm so excited to just go way deeper with you. I know that everyone's going to just massively benefit from this conversation.
