Ep. 5: Exploring Gene Keys with Summer Phoenix
12 Aug 2024 · 60 min
Summer Phoenix teaches Gene Keys, a chart combining Human Design, astrology, and the I Ching that reveals your shadow patterns and gifts. She discovered it after meditation in Austin and built a coaching business around it. The chart maps your Life's Work, Vocation, Culture, and Pearl to help entrepreneurs align with authentic purpose.

I am so excited to have my dear, dear friend Summer Phoenix on the show. Welcome. So happy to have you. Summer is A multifaceted, multi-passionate entrepreneur, and she is most known for her work with the Gene Keys, which is what I have brought her on to talk about today. And it's especially interesting because I know a lot about a lot of different spiritual modalities. I'm kind of like, I've tried pretty much everything and have done all the readings, you know, all the ceremonies, and Gene Keys is one of the things I know nothing about. And so I'm excited for Summer to kind of help us understand what the Gene Keys are, how they can help us in our business, in our life. And then she's actually gonna do like a little bit of a live demo on me, um, so that you can see how the Gene Keys can apply to you in your life. So welcome, Summer. So, so, so excited.
Thank you so much.
Yeah, so before we jump into the Gene Keys, and I— you, you've had a very interesting, you know, kind of life history, career path, and I'm sure that, you know, given your work with the Gene Keys, you can kind of see how the puzzle pieces fit. But I, I always like people to share just a little bit of like your journey, your career path, and how you ended up really landed in your calling.
Now? Hmm, such a good question. So I'll, I'll try to like chop it up. I mean, I think one of the main things that drives me is that I, since I've been in high school, have not really resonated with like your, um, your typical ideas of a career, right? So when they ask you, even as a young girl, what do you want to be when you grow up? I'm like, What do you mean? I don't know what I wanna do when I grow up. Like, don't ask me that. Like, what do you mean? And it really, really carried with me. And what I've come to discover is like, I'm seriously an entrepreneur spirit. Like, I am meant to be an entrepreneur. So when I like, you know, began working, I just was juggling a bunch of different jobs, things that you didn't need any college for. Right? Bartending, I worked at a metaphysical shop, and then I got into cosmetology, and I was a hairstylist for about 5 or 6 years. And somewhere in between the metaphysical shop and being a hairstylist, I actually began my journey with astrology. I received an astrology reading, was blown away, and was like, I need to share this with everybody. I just dove right in as the investigator that I am, and then that led me to getting into subconscious mind rewiring and programming and like quantum physics and how all of that stuff works. And then fast forward to I moved to Austin, I had no job, didn't know what was next for me. I kind of was in between things, feeling stagnant. And I decided to meditate one day, and just with this intention of like, what's next, God, like universe, what's up? Like—
We've all been there.
What's next, literally, like, and I heard the words Gene Keys. And I had briefly heard about it. I can remember two women in particular in the like past 5 years who had asked me, 'Have you seen your Gene Keys yet? Have you gotten the Gene Keys yet?' Because they knew how into astrology I was. I was like, 'No.' My energy field, my being was like not ready for it. Then after this meditation, I got to GeneKeys.com, looked at my profile, instantly felt resonant with it. And without ever picking up a book, actually, I wrote my chart all out and I had it on my wall like as a big Post-it note, and I just stared at it every day. I would just look at it every day, and some of the, some of the Gene Keys were very apparent to me. I was like, oh wow, uh, it was so healing for me to see like this is a part of my design and there's a gift that comes out of this, like hallelujah, I thought I was stuck forever.
Okay.
And I eventually got to a point where I was relying totally on my partner for all my resources, you know, home, food. And one day I come home from my part-time gig at the time, and he was like, "We need to break up." And I was like, "Alright." Okay.
Okay.
Like, I need to get my shit together. And I felt very under-resourced. I obviously, like, I was in a really sketchy situation. And there was one particular sphere on my Gene Keys chart that stood out to me, and it was my purpose sphere. The shadow of this purpose sphere is inadequacy. Like, I know that frequency so well. I was like— Yes. You mother effer, you've been around for so long and you've been driving things for so long. But the gift, what I learned, that the gift that comes out of inadequacy is resourcefulness.
Hmm.
So when he broke up with me, I was like, I let myself cry for one day, literally one day. I didn't cry once after that. And I was like, I'm gonna carry myself. In this high vibration of resourcefulness and see what happens. Well, one, one step led to the other. Within 2 weeks, I got a job that was paying me more money than I had ever made and living in a house that was the most beautiful house I'd ever lived in. And that's when I really started to lean into Gene Keys because I was like, if I can transform my life that much just by looking at my chart, What would happen if I really dug into it?
Wow.
Yeah.
That's amazing. And the rest is history. Then you started, because now you have a whole program around it. You do readings, like this is like your main thing.
Yes. 2 years later, my mom was the first like beta client. And then my next client paid me $2K for a one-on-one 3-month and Now I've turned it into a group program.
Wow, I love that. I love that. And I love something you said, like you knew, like you just were born to be an entrepreneur. Like, how did you know that? Because I think a lot of people feel that way and they, and maybe we'll talk about like how the Gene Keys helped affirm this for you. Like, how did you know that? And how did you give yourself permission to step into that truth?
Mm-hmm. I think when I was really young, it wasn't that obvious to me. I actually thought something was wrong with me, or I had been like called a rebel, right? Or like I started to like look down on myself and shame myself for not having the same type of aspirations that other people did. Like I didn't want to be an accountant, I didn't like economics, like all of this stuff. I just was like, it was just soul-sucking. Like, there was no part of my being that even pretend to, like, take a normal path. And I had tried 2 semesters of school, and I was like, this is, this is gonna take way too long. I was like, I'm a career builder. And that's when I kind of stepped into the hair, because I was like, okay, I'm gonna get into a trade.
Right.
And then it wasn't until one of my friends actually reflected it back to me. She's like, you know a lot about astrology. You should give readings to people. Mm-hmm. And she was kind of my first permission slip to just go. And I've always go with messy action.
Like, that was— An important thing to speak to because like the most successful, and not even the most successful, but the, the clients I have that move the fastest and see results the fastest are not afraid of messy action. Like, I love working with people who are just like, okay, got it, I'll do it. And they'll do it like messy, like scribbled on a piece of paper and photo. Like, it doesn't have to be perfect. So I love— I think that's super important to highlight. I love that.
Yeah, yeah.
Amazing. So okay, so let's kind of dive into, I think, the first thing, because I honestly, you know, we were talking before we started recording, you know, I— my main, and really only kind of, I guess, metaphysical or whatever you want to call it channel is the Akashic Records. I, you know, I read my own and other Akashic Records. I'm a student of Bryn DePelle, and I also, you know, have an Akashic Records mentor. And then I know about Human Design. I know that I'm a generator, and I know like little bits and pieces about Human Design. But Gene Keys, like— Mm-hmm. I literally know nothing. So we're just gonna assume that many people in the audience are in the same boat as me. Maybe they're not. So just like break it down. What are the Gene Keys? Where did they come from and how do they help us?
Amazing. Okay. Well, the founder and creator is Richard Rudd, who's still alive. You can go find him on YouTube, find him on Instagram, on podcast, like y'all dive in. He's such a rich human. Beautiful poetic energy to listen to and hear and learn from. So one of the first things I always recommend to people is like find him, feel his resonance, check it out that way from the Creator himself, like come on. But Gene Keys is a chart, right? It's a— well, hold on. Gene Keys itself is not a chart, but it will— hold on, how do I want to approach this? Gene Keys is a methodology that's combined with Human Design, so it does have components of Human Design in it, astrology, I Ching, and epigenetics. What really got me was the epigenetics part because I'm like— Yeah. Super geek about how—
What does that mean? What is—
Yeah, you're in— it pretty much means that your environment impacts the way that your RNA communicates to the DNA, and it can restructure our DNA.
Okay.
So people who thought they were destined to a certain disease because it was passed down from their family are actually learning, oh, if I create the proper environment, mind, body, and soul, my genes won't express that way and it won't manifest in my life like that.
Okay, and does the same— is it the same thing like for like people who grew up in poverty, for example, something like less tangible? Would it be the same?
Oh, absolutely. Yeah, it's one of the main components with Gene Keys is learning the shadow frequencies and the gift frequencies. And the shadow frequencies are like our old programming when we needed to like fight to survive and we had our little tribes that were like dominating over the other, you know, it's like—
Mm-hmm.
When we start to do the shadow work through the lens of Gene Keys, all of that stuff begins to dissipate because people are operating from a higher vibrational place, which naturally brings balance. To think of poverty and, yeah, war, you know, some of the collective patterns we see. Yeah.
And it's— there's this book, um, and I'm blanking on the author, but we'll link it in the show notes. It's called It Didn't Start With You, um, and it's basically about how, you know, Holocaust, you know, sons or grandchildren of Holocaust survivors, for example, will have a debilitating fear of, of fire. And like, to the point, you know, that like they'll smell smoke and their body will have a reaction. Right? And, and so that is trauma that didn't actively occur in their lifetime, but it's passed down.
Yes. Yep. Yep. Same gig here. And it's all interpreted through frequency. So like I said earlier, like one of my frequencies is inadequacy and again, forcefulness, but based on my— and it's connected to ancestral, like the ancestors, the purpose spheres, there's specific parts that really show you the ancestral genius that you're here to live out through, you know, through the shadow work, through alchemizing from the shadow frequency. Frequencies. But inadequacy for me probably looks a lot different than how it did for, you know, my ancestors.
Right, right. So how do you, like, in terms of business— and, you know, I don't really separate business and life— but like, how can the Gene Keys be leveraged to elevate and inform the way that we approach business and life? Because I feel like this, I mean, it's kind of like a new roadmap situation.
Yeah, it is. So there's, there's two things. The first one is that your chart is entirely unique to you. So when you start to do the work through your chart, it turns you inwards, and that process, you're tending to your garden, right? And we know that anything that grows and builds from our life starts here. So that's one of, I think, biggest ways. It's like, what's my relationship to myself? Where am I creating from? Where is my frequency at? The other component is there's actually a whole sequence in Gene Keys that's, um, that represents business.
Hmm.
At work, your zone of genius, the energy behind the type of clients that you'll attract to you, you know, your branding essence. Even your brand voice, best relationship to money. So there is— there's 4 spheres in the chart that are dedicated to work.
So what are the 4 spheres again? And I— we're gonna look at my chart in a minute, but just tell us the 4 spheres one more time. Amazing.
Yeah, so if you're looking at your chart, they're blue. Sometimes it's easier to do color-coded, so they're blue, and the names of them are vocation, culture, your life's work, and pearl. Okay, interesting.
Okay, so I feel like we should just like dive into my chart so that— because people listening, a lot, a lot of people know me, but I think it's just, this is, it's so, it's like intangible but it's tangible. So kind of like take us through, you've looked my chart up, so take us through like what does my chart say mean and how can I use it? And then I think this will help people be able to kind of apply it to their own lives. And we'll link in the show notes the website you can look up your Gene Keys for free so they can kind of follow along with what you're talking about.
Yeah, amazing. I'm going to pull up your chart and share it. Okay, so I think let's go over two foundational pieces and then I'll kind of walk you through how I would, if you were a client.
Yeah, amazing.
So you'll— this is your chart and there's 11 spheres, okay? Here's the life's work, the evolution. The spheres are labeled in bold, so that's how you'll know the name of it. Radiance, purpose. Everybody has those spheres. But what makes yours unique is the Gene Key that falls in it. So you'll see here Gene Key number 4, shadow of intolerance to the gift of understanding, and it brings down this essence of forgiveness to the collective. Okay, and then here, like, what makes it unique is this Gene Key reaction to revolution, to experiencing rebirth. Now there I mentioned the sequences. So there's 3 sequences. The green ones are all about your prime strengths and also your prime challenges, if you will.
Okay.
What really defines your individuality, it's finding safety to be yourself, um, and being, yeah, being able to, um, define that authenticity, right? Then the red spheres are all about relationships. It's the fear patterns and the gifts that are bound to show up in our relationships with other people, and it essentially leads you to living life with a more open heart. As you clear the wounds and the fear patterns, your heart can just open more naturally, right? And then the blue spheres are the ones that are about business. So when you contemplate, pearl sequence is actually meant to bring you to clarity. In simplicity, moving out of like scarcity mindset, breaking through glass ceilings. Yeah. So, and then how it reads, the third word down is always the shadow.
Okay.
The word above it is what's called the gift. Okay.
So like, for example, at the top, and everybody should look theirs up, this will make way more sense if you're like looking at yours as we're going through this. So for life's work, it says the shadow is intolerance. So what does that mean?
So your life's work is associated with your astrological sun sign.
Mm-hmm.
And I say that so it's easier to understand the energy of the life's work. It's really your empowerment. It's your shine. It really shows up in your outward personality and what you're here to do. Literally. And it shows up in action. Okay. So the shadow of intolerance is what's going to procrastinate you from taking action.
Right. Like, what does intolerance mean? I know that's like a dumb question, but in the, like, intolerance meaning like, I just can't deal with this, or like, it plays out like that.
Yeah. And I think another important note is like, each shadow has a repressed nature and a reactive nature.
Uh-huh.
So if you even repress the experience of feeling intolerant about something, you stay stuck there, and usually it keeps you numb.
Right. And that— so for me, like, I would say, like, my— if I had to kind of blanket my most frequent shadow side self, it would be frustration.
Yeah.
Which is in alignment with my— I don't know if that play— if that show is represented here, but like, it's definitely represented in my Human Design. But like, my go-to. I don't get angry. Like, I've probably been angry, like, I don't know, 3 times in my life. But like, I get— I'm not gonna lie, I get frustrated really easily, and it's something I'm super conscious about and super trying to work on. But like, I really get frustrated quickly and frequently.
Yeah, well, you also have the shadow of reaction and the shadow Okay, yeah, it's agitated.
Maybe that's a better word to describe it. I get agitated.
Yeah, so if you're, if you're incorporating knowledge from a Human Design, you're probably familiar with gate numbers, like gate 51. That correlates with Gene Key 51.
Okay, interesting. Okay, okay. And, and what about like Line 3 Changer under Life life's work? What does that mean?
Yeah, so through the lens of life's work, you could see it as this, almost the way that you embody the gene. So a line 3 of a changer, their gift is being fluid. They can be in flow, quick on their feet, quick to pivot. And it makes them, uh, really understanding. Hilarious that I want to use that word.
Yeah.
But it makes you understanding because you can understand all these different, like, pathways and things through life. You can change it. You can be a voice of changing something because you're like, oh, I see how the whole system works. Right, right.
Yeah, that feels, that feels very true. And I feel like are these related to the business?
Yeah.
Okay. Yeah. And I think that's like been one of my edges in, you know, not only my own business but in helping other women is like, I'm very— I'm like, okay, this isn't working, let's just change it. And a lot of people are so attached to, but this is, you know, I wanted the launch to be like this, or I wanted to have this many women, or, you know, did it whatever. I wanted to do it on Facebook, not Telegram. And I think one of the reasons, and this is also from, you know, being in the startup world for so long, like, I really change things quickly, and I'm very unattached. Like, I'm just like, it's not working. Okay, let's change it. And I see, you know, there, there's like an under— an understanding and forgiveness also in this section. Like, I think one thing about me is like, I don't hold grudges. Like I said, like, I've, I've been angry like 3 times in my life, and I'm like super quick to forgive. I'm like, don't worry about it, no big deal. And I'm legit over it, you know? And so, so it's interesting to see these like grouped together because I think in business it's important, you know, like people, you know, won't respond to a DM until a year later and they're like, oh my God, I'm so sorry. And I'm like, literally, it's no big deal. I get it, you know?
Yes, yes, exactly. I love that.
And is there any, like, when it says life's work, is there any indication of like what your life's work should be here?
How I would comprehend it is that it doesn't point you to what you should do, right, but points you into how you show up in I love that. I love that. Yeah. So the inner work that you do from your own experience of intolerance is gonna be served to the world understanding.
I love that. And that's like super in line with kind of my philosophy on purpose, which is you are your purpose. You know, like you could put me, you know, running a restaurant or, you know, selling lemonade or or coaching or on a stage or whatever. And like, my, my message, my presence, like, you know, my, um, my beliefs, my values will be clear no matter the context that I'm in.
Yeah.
You know, and I think so many people, and I know you can resonate with this, like, we get so stuck on the what, you know, like, what am I meant to do with my life, you know, like I'm meant to, you know, be a hairstylist, or I'm meant to be an accountant, or I'm meant to be a teacher. And it's actually so less about the, the what and so much more about the who.
Mm-hmm.
And who you're being and who you're emanating. And when you're emanating from a place of, you know, truth and alignment, like you really can't mess it up. Like you are your purpose.
Yeah. And I tell people all the time, like, anchor into your vibration first.
Yes.
Then see what you want to do next, and then take action.
Yes, 100%, 100%. And so often, and I'm sure this is somewhere in, in my chart or in other people's chart, like, people, you know, especially I, you know, work with women who are trying to identify what their quote thing is or what their purpose is or how they're meant to be of service or what type of business they want to create. And there's such a frenetic, like, anxiety, just like, I just need to know the answer. And my number one thing is like, we gotta drop that. Like, and a lot of times that means like stopping everything. Like, stop all the readings, stop all the plant medicine, stop all the podcasts, stop all the books, like just stop everything, and like let's just get still.
Yeah, can I relate that back to your Gene Keys?
Please, yeah.
So your vocation is alchemizing that shadow of vanity into discrimination, and discrimination is like this healthy, like I was going to call it purity because you see that's the city above, but it's the refinement, you know, where people are getting lost in the, oh, what should I do? Let me take in this— kind of getting stuck at the surface level of things. And you're like, no, take it all away, take all the noise away, and then you become clearer. And that's literally this gene key in action.
Wow, that's so fun. That's so interesting. Why does it say sales connection?
Yes. So the gift of a line 4 in the vocation sphere is your heart.
Yeah.
Like, you are a community freaking builder. You love working with people. And so what your gift is is connection. You can really connect by your own, you know, intimacy with your heart. You can really connect with other people's hearts, and they are— they trust you, they feel seen by you, they're drawn to you because of how open your heart is. Yeah, he puts it through the lens of sales because if you were to be like a conscious salesperson, you would have genuine connection. Okay, let's go here, you go here, like knowing where it is allocated and based off of people's desires.
Yeah, yeah, I love that. And you know, I When I teach sales, I think people often are taken aback by how I make it so simple. And just like I was just telling someone, a client, you know, because I teach like non-IC DM sales, and I literally just teach people like, if you saw a mom in a carpool line, what would you say to her? Like, that's connection. Like, hey, did you get a new car? Or, hey, is Bobby going to the baseball game this weekend?
Yeah.
You know, I mean, like, no one wants to— no one wants to be hit up with a DM that's like, hey, I'm teaching a new masterclass called Five Figure Sales, and I'd love to have you inside. Like, that just— it's so— it just doesn't work. But I, I really believe that one of the reasons that my business this has been so successful is because, like, for me, sales is service. Like, I just genuinely love connecting with people and helping people. And even when I'm not working, like, my work doesn't really feel like work, but when I'm not in front of the Zoom screen or whatever, I'm like out in the world, like, you know, getting my nails done, and I'm talking to the, the nail technician about like how she can, you know, get more clients, like, in a really heart-centered way. Like, I'm just doing this all the time because it's just my way of being, you know? And I think that it's because sales, I think, to so many women in entrepreneurship, that's their block, right? Like, they're like, I don't have enough clients, I can't get clients, no one responds to me in DMs, no one responds to my emails, da da da da da. And oftentimes it's like, because you're not connecting.
Right.
All people want is connection. We're starving for it.
Exactly. And think of how many people have been either programmed to avoid connection or to be afraid of intimacy and that state of scarcity where like, no, I can't ask you about you because that might take away from me.
Right, right. And there's so many stories and layers in that.
Yeah, I'm really curious, was there— flipping the script, I'm gonna ask you a question.
Please, yeah.
Was there like a version of Claire where she wasn't as open with that, or do you feel like that you're pretty privileged in that area and it came natural to you?
I think it's a great question. You know, I think it's always come very naturally to me. And actually, it's funny because I was a Girl Scout when I was younger, and I was always top cookie sales girl for like 5 years in a row. Like, I would sell— like, everyone would sell like 300 boxes, and I literally would sell thousands, thousands. Like, our house became like a cookie warehouse. And the reason is because for First of all, I'm competitive, which maybe that's in my chart. But second of all, I would go to my parents— my parents are both entrepreneurs— I would go to their offices and I would walk in, you know, I was probably like 8 or 9, I would walk into every single person's office. I would knock on the door, "Hi, can I come in?" And I would sit down and I would just talk to them. I would just talk to them, and then after a few minutes I'd say, well, I don't wanna bother you, but I'm a Girl Scout and I'm selling cookies. Do you wanna buy? And of course everyone felt connected to me, and like, who doesn't freaking love Girl Scout cookies? I would like literally house a box of Thin Mints right now if I had them. And I mean, I would— I'm not kidding, like I won awards like in my state because I would sell so many boxes of cookies, but that's how I did it. I went office to office. I would knock on the door, consent-based. Can I come in? I would sit down. I would ask them something about them. I would tell them, you know, like, my play is coming up next month, whatever. And then I would ask them if they wanted cookies. And so I really think it's something that's always come naturally to me. And I'm so grateful for that. And like, I think growing up, you know, with a, with a mom who, you know, started a, started a business, and, you know, just modeled and embodied kind of fearless feminine courage was, was so impactful for me. But I will say, I did struggle with feeling shy and insecure. And I don't know if that's in here at all, but that it— I've always had this ability to almost like put on a confidence cape. Like, I'm scared a lot, to be honest. Like, I get nervous before dates. I get nervous before I go live. I get nervous before opening up a new container. I get nervous before retreats, like all these things. But I honestly think it's because I would watch my mom like come out of her room in these, like, fancy suits and high heels, and she just was like this total boss. And I just remember, like, almost— and I teach my clients this— sometimes you just have to method act the higher self version of you. And that's what I did with the cookies. That's what I did, you know, starting my business. That's how I climbed, you know, a startup ladder, you know, running huge huge teams when I was under 30, like I was method acting a future version of me that was like a total badass boss babe. And I think like, so it's come naturally to me, but it's like a cloak I turn on and I put on.
Yeah, I love that. It's first off like, wow, blessings and grace to your mother for being a model. Like I'm like getting excited thinking about her too. I'm like, oh my gosh, yes. Um, but also you're a Leo.
Yes, also.
Yeah, creative. Like, Leos are so creative, so doing like the cloak or like putting it on as an act is actually so empowering for a Leo to do, and it really helps them build their confidence.
Yes, yes, totally. I love that. And I think, you know, my background in theater also, which I don't know if that's in my chart, but You know, I mean, I have a degree in theater and, you know, I think that is something I bring into sales and bring into business building quite deeply. You know, thinking of every launch as a production, you know, like I use a lot of the tools that I learned in improv class in business building and in sales, 'cause they're, I mean, it's so connected. So yeah, I think sales connection is, to me now I've identified as kind of like my top super, superpower.
Yeah, yep, yeah, because your vocation is pretty much your inner calling, just you living out the energetics of your inner calling.
Yeah, I love that. Okay, so where should we go next?
So how I usually have people do it is I have you look at your chart and see if there's a word or something that really draws you in, and let's follow the thread.
Okay, so radiance was like the first thing I noticed because I love that word.
Yeah. Okay, so everyone's Radiance Sphere represents the energy that impacts their physical vitality, to the aura that they emanate.
Mm-hmm.
And so it's this very unconscious— it's called the unconscious sun. So it's like the energy of the sun, but what's kind of behind the curtain. So it's just this like glow-in-the-dark vibe to you. So what hinders that aura and what can actually make you physically sick is going to be the shadow, and which for you is complexity. Interesting.
It's interesting because I've kept like such a simple life. And for example, when I moved to Austin, you know, and I was in Austin for almost a year, the thing that I kept saying and feeling was my life here just feels so complicated. And like, what do you think is the connection of that?
Like why Austin was— felt more complicated?
Well, yeah, I mean, just, you know, it seems like I thrive in simple existence, you know, like where, where it's somewhere I can walk, you know. I think most people do, but for a lot of people, Austin, it— I don't think it was anything against Austin. I think it's an amazing place, you know, it— but it was something about me and Austin that like I didn't jive.
Yeah, so I think that comes back to like the environment.
Yeah.
The chaos of a city and like how like far out you have to live in the city to even be able to afford something versus a space. Like there's a lot going on, and so that type of environment can put you into that state of survival.
Yeah, yeah, that's so interesting. And I think, you know, had I known that before, even just being equipped with this knowledge I think is helpful, like, going into situations.
Uh, yeah, I literally take inventory, as I call it. I take inventory of myself every day. I'll have seasons where like one gene key is just a little bit more activated than the rest. And I'm like, ooh, I'm really moving through this one. But otherwise I'm paying attention to the subtle micro ways that it shows up within me already, because that's where the work lies. Like that's where the opportunity to raise your vibration, to alchemize out of survival and fear patterns exist.
Right, right. And I think, you know, and I'll share vulnerably, like You know, there was a part of me that was super on the edge around Austin and should I stay or should I go? And you know, you actually were a part of that conversation with me. And you know, I think there's a part of me that I had to make a choice because, which the Gene Keys literally says, like my health was, was crumbling in that environment for many reasons. And so I, It was not— it really wasn't an option for me to stay for health reasons. Um, but I do see now in my next transition, in my next move, that there will be an opportunity to alchemize the complexity and rise into— I guess, is it creating simplicity, or is it elevating into radiance? Or like, what is the trajectory of that?
So how it would kind of move is you would notice, like, and again, it happens in micro ways, but sometimes macro ways, the— you hit a new level of growth and you feel the complexity, and you might get lost in it and like need to spend some time sorting through it. And what comes out of that is simplicity. Start to sort through the complexities of everything and you kind of find what really matters. I can see you being really good at this, like—
Yeah.
Noise, noise, noise, golden nugget. Noise, noise, noise, golden nugget.
Yeah.
And that process feeds your vitality in your body all the way to your aura, and it just makes you even more magnetic.
Yeah, no, I totally, I totally see that. And I'm even thinking about— everybody has this radiance.
Or radiance, but it's different.
Like, some different.
Yeah, yeah.
But I have clients, so, so many women that I work with, like, my, my kind of shadow is frustration, but so many women that I work with like they go to overwhelm like so fast, you know. It's like, I don't know how to create this thing on my website, or I don't know how to set this up on MailChimp, or I don't know how to do— and for me, like, that stuff doesn't overwhelm me. Like, I'm able to just like either hire someone to do it or Google it or like see it as a challenge. But I think so many people listening, and I'm curi— you know, when, when people look on their Gene Keys, like, where will they see that? Because— and what would their pattern be up and through the overwhelm?
Yeah, so when it comes to making business decisions and working on and in our business, you want to look at the culture sphere the most. So for people who are listening, who are wondering like, why do I— what What frequency am I hitting that's making me so overwhelmed and wanna buckle in?
Yeah.
Look at your shadow. And then the pathway that you want to then try to anchor into and find the gift, the word right above it. Mm-hmm.
So for mine, it's agitation. The gift is initiative, which is so true for me. It's like I just go.
Yeah.
I just like, I just do it. Like I don't even think, I don't make a story. I'm like, All right, I need to figure out how to, you know, launch and produce a podcast. Let's go. It can't be that hard.
Yeah. Yeah. And I'm not surprised that you attract a lot of people who are stuck in that overwhelm because you have that gift of initiative. You also have the gift of innovation. It comes from chaos and the revolution that comes from reaction. So you know, and that the simplicity that comes from complexity, you know those frequencies really well because they're in your design. So no wonder the people who are like, shit, that's a weak spot of mine, maybe because I don't have it in my chart, but it's just this area of life. Maybe I learned it from my mom and she has it in her chart. Like, right. That was another wild thing. When I looked at my mom's chart, I was like, I felt so resonant with each of the Gene Keys because I'm so connected to my mother.
Yes.
Yeah.
Yeah, no, that— it's so, it's so— because I— and I hope to have my mom on the podcast maybe this summer, but, you know, watching her build— she built a large software company, and she was kind of the first woman in her field, in the hospitality field, to build, um, this type of software. And watching her, I think, informed so much of how I am in business, a lot of which I've had to unlearn, to be honest. But so much of kind of the, like, just figure it out, you know, like, that is from her. Like, because she— I mean, she didn't even have a college degree and she built, you know, a huge tech— she didn't even have a computer and she built a software company. thousands of employees, like, you know. And so when I— but I see women in my world, or, you know, just out, and like, it's the same. It's like, you know, I need to, you know, change my name on Instagram and I can't figure out how to do it. And it's like this colossal chaos situation. And I'm just like, babe, like, let's take a step back, you know. And it's because I've watched, been modeled, and now embodied that just initiative.
Yes. And if your mother's nervous system was equipped to handle challenges, that programs your nervous system. So in my program, I work with 3 pillars. It's Gene Keys, somatic work, and what I call actionable abundance. What I'm doing, like, let's plan some, because I'm a good action taker.
Yeah.
Yeah. Because what you want to do is first awaken these and activate these Gene Keys. And begin to understand yourself through this, these frequencies. And then what I do is I guide people into creating a wider capacity in frequency. So when you are stuck in survivals or states of addiction, your nervous system capacity just shrinks.
So small.
Yeah. Yes. It's easier to tip over. But when you warm it up with somatic exercises, you can widen your capacity. Past, these are the challenges, feel easy. Yes.
Yes. And I love that that's part of your program, which we'll talk about at the end. But, you know, and I, I can really empathize. I know I'm speaking now like, oh, I take action, no problem. But I'll speak again vulnerably about my time in Austin. I mean, choosing a couch was just like beyond me. Like choosing— I mean, I had a, like, barely furnished large 2.5-bedroom home for months because I could not make decisions on furniture because I was in such nervous system overload, fight-flight-freeze. Like, I was totally shut down, and I think that that is really important to talk about because, you know, our inner stability and our inner groundedness and our inner care of mind, body, and spirit has to come first before, like, any of what I'm talking about is even viable, I would say. I don't know, maybe you disagree because you work with this in your program, but I mean, what do you think about that?
No, I completely agree, and that's what I take people through, is like, yeah, we first into your gift frequency and then come up with an action plan.
Yeah.
And then you go to approach things, and at least it doesn't— it's not to say that you won't experience that shadow again, but you are familiar with it. You've built a relationship with it, you've built safety with it, so it's no longer big scary monster coming out. It's like, hey, I know you, and I know what gift I can alchemize you into. So you awaken you awaken your inner alchemist.
Yeah. Yeah. I love that. And I think, you know, that's the other thing, you know, I truly, I really try to support women with in business and in life because I've experienced this so many times. And I know I keep talking about Austin, but it's just, it was the most extreme example I've ever lived through. And I teach what I've learned and lived. Like, I, a, a, pro— in retrospect, I have no regrets. Of course everything's perfect. But had I gone for 3 months to build my nervous system capacity after COVID, to try a new environment, to explore a new community, you know, like, had I taken kind of that small step, I don't think I would have experienced such a just total shutdown.
Yeah.
You know, and I think in business you see a lot of coaches like, let's go from $0 to $100K months, or, you know, like, let's let— you know, it's like, we're gonna run ads for, you know, blah blah blah. And, and in my world, it's like, we have to move only as fast as your body and your nervous system will hold the growth, because otherwise what will happen— and again, this is kind of clicking with me in the Gene Keys, like I would have previously called it kind of like you'll sabotage yourself, but your shadow will reign, you know, your shadow side will take over.
Yeah.
So it's so fascinating. So let's just, let's just do one more. I know we're, we're running out of time. I feel like we could spend like hours talking about this. Literally.
Talk.
Is there anything— I'm, I'm gonna be selfish. Is there anything in here on like love, relationships, that's helpful for me and the people listening to, to know. A lot of my clients are single, so—
Yeah, love that. So the— what, what your Gene Keys will show you are your patterns that will show up in a relationship. So it just helps you refine what's mine in a relationship and what's theirs. It makes it Hello, self-aware. So any of the red spheres will show up in relationships. So the shadows are when you don't feel safe in a relationship, right? And so then you're— if you notice, like, I'm in a relationship and that frequency shows up all the time, the focus is how can I build safety with this person?
Mm-hmm.
I can operate from a different place, or how can I build safety within myself? Like, Right. So I always tell people, like, I don't know how you're gonna attract the one. However, I do know that the two main lessons that you will learn in what you attract, or vice versa, you attract it to learn these lessons, is the purpose sphere and attraction sphere.
Why is that? Talk us through that.
Yeah, so, well, your attraction sphere is literally the electromagnetic field that you emanate to draw in experiences that help you deepen your dharma. So the attraction sphere and the purpose sphere are both about deepening into your dharma through love. Not so much through God, not so much through meditation, but through love, through others. And your purpose sphere shadow is the biggest challenge you will experience in the ways that you relate to other people. And then the attraction is you're going to attract situations to you that trigger that shadow or that activate the gene key so that you can alchemize it into the gift.
Okay, so let's just— again, like, I wasn't planning on sharing any of this, but here we go. So my— so I'm looking at the attraction. So like, my history with many of my relationships, I've met men while traveling. So while on these very transformative you know, experiences where I didn't necessarily at all go to meet someone. I just was going on kind of like a pilgrimage or journey or trip, you know, for my own enjoyment, growth, whatever. And so that, like when you said inertia, that it's almost like a force is bringing me to these people when we meet. And I'm, I'm doing a lot of work work personally on, you know, the difference of intensity and intimacy. But there's a part of my soul that's attracted to intensity, which is probably, you know, there's trauma in that, there's generational things in that. But there— a part of me turns on if I don't feel that other person being all in, where I'm like, I need to make this happen, and I'm willing to move across the world or, you know, do whatever it takes to make it happen. Which, like, I'm looking at this and I'm like, I think that's what this is saying.
Oh my gosh. First off, it's so relatable. I'm laughing so hard.
I'm sure a lot of people can relate.
I moved across the country twice for men. Am I, am I in a relationship? No. But yes, those situations are meant to trigger that sense of inertia. So then you alchemize it into determination, and it just widens. You're like, oh, I'm capable of intimacy with somebody. I'm capable of finding somebody who who can meet me there and who can build with me.
Mm-hmm. And then it's coming to, if they're not willing to meet me, having the— would it be like the invincibility to walk away?
Mm, I love that. Yeah, and even the insight.
Yeah.
Because deafness will have you numb to it.
Yes. Like you almost don't even hear or see it.
Yeah. You're like, oh, oh, red flag.
No, please.
Yes, totally.
It's green.
I think that's not too bad. Like, we all got it.
Yeah, yeah, exactly, exactly.
Wow. Yeah.
I mean, it's crazy how just informative and accurate all of this is. And, and with any of these modalities, what I love is that It's not— we're not telling the future here. We're just affirming what's true. And like, just even having, you know, and we'll have to do like a full real non-podcast reading. But even just having this like has given me so much more data and knowledge on who I am as a woman, as a businesswoman, as you know, a future partner. Like, I mean, it's, it's pretty invaluable.
Actually. Yeah. Wow.
So, so cool. This is so amazing. So I'm sure people are going to be like, okay, like, how do we— how do we— so everyone can look up their own chart, but you will like walk people through this, right?
Yeah. So I actually have multiple different ways that people can begin to learn this depending on their learning style.
Amazing.
So I have a self-paced course, which is really nice. Like, I just got a note from somebody who bought it last year. She's like, I'm looking back into it again, like a whole year later. Like, constantly keep going back to it little by little.
Yeah.
Or you can hire me for just a one-on-one hour session, and that's more relevant to either just like a brief overlay and getting into maybe like 6 or 7 of the spheres. Or specifically diving into a particular area of their life or something that they're experiencing and transforming through.
Okay.
And then of course, for people who are like, um, yeah, this is my gig, I have a 3-month like launch pad specifically for female entrepreneurs or just leaders helping them heal the fawn and freeze response. So the take action again, an action that feels authentic and expansive and like beautifully feminine, but also powerful and potent.
I love that. That's so important and so needed. I love it. I love it. I love it. So I always like to ask my guests two questions. Well, three actually. So what does prosperity mean to you? It's different for everyone.
I know, and I love that you asked that because I don't think I really had a definition until Gene Keys. There's something that Richard Rudd teaches is like taking, uh, taking the collective who's very wealth-driven to prosperity-driven. I love the way that he explains prosperity as being fulfilled in like every area of their life, essentially. I'm prosperous with love that is flowing through my relationships and my friendships. My health is thriving. Like, there's just so much life inside of the word prosperity.
I love that. I just wrote that down. I love that. I'll have to look at his, his definition because it is such a multifaceted word.
Yeah, yeah.
I love that. Um, what is the next dream that you are devoted to creating or bringing into the world?
Well, really, I've just put two feet in on this 3-month launch pad. So that's like the micro thing to help women who like want it so bad, but just have those stinky patterns of procrastinating and self-sabotaging. And like, something I'm so passionate about is like, say we don't feel like we deserve something. We won't take the action then to build it.
Totally.
Women, we're just full of stories and excuses, and so much of it comes back to our relationship to ourselves. And I'm really passionate about that. And on a personal level, I have a dream of having a condo on a beach— or it doesn't have to be a condo, a place on a beach— and I'm calling it the Moon Shed. And I will fly there once a month to bleed, and we'll Airbnb it or rent it out the rest of the time.
I love that. Oh my gosh. And you could, you could, if you had other women, you could, on different cycles, you could switch off.
Exactly. Like investment property.
Like, let's go.
Yeah. I love that.
Oh my gosh. Okay. And where can people find you? Because I'm sure people are gonna be like, I need— to talk to her. What's the best place? Is it on Instagram? We'll link everything.
Yeah, Instagram's the best. That's where I put energy into.
So— Okay, perfect. So we'll link you there. And Summer, thank you so much. This has just been like— I'm mind-blown. I feel like a whole new world has opened up. I feel like I understand myself more, and I'm just so grateful for you to share this knowledge, this deep, deep knowledge and this science really that, that's available to all of us. So thank you for being here.
