Navigating Life with Ease – What Death Means from a 3 Principles Perspective

A recorded conversation between Clare Downham and Michaela Ellis exploring the meaning of death from a 3-Principles/spiritual perspective. Speakers contrast fear-based views with the idea that consciousness or energy continues beyond the physical body, emphasize presence and awareness, and describe personal experiences of mourning and reframing loss. The tone is conversational, reflective and consoling.

In it, we will be diving deeply into the meaning of commonly used words and pointing you away from that old, stressful way of looking at life and towards a new paradigm. This will help you find a sense of calm, cultivate meaningful relationships, and create harmony in every aspect of your life. Here is Navigating Life with Ease with Michaela Ellis and Claire Downer. Hey, Claire. Hello. We always. We always wait for each other to say hello and then end up saying it at the same time. I find myself swaying to our intentions. Intro music, you know, as it's playing. Yes, it's quite cute. It's quite a sweet little tune, isn't it? It's really nice. How are you anyway?
Yeah, I'm well, I am really good. How about you?
Yeah, really good, actually. Yeah. Excited about lots of things at the moment, so nice. But more mostly I'm very excited about a word that you might have for me. I think you are.
Well, yeah, this is where that. It's been on my mind for a while, so, I mean, I am excited to explore it with you. And the word is deaf.
Oh, it's really funny, isn't it? Because you're immediate. My immediate response to that was a heaviness I felt in my body, like straight away, because there is a lot of heaviness around that topic. And maybe I'd like to start by just saying that we understand that, you know, if you're. If somebody close to you as has passed from this mortal coil, as it were, recently, that we send you a lot of love and. And hope that this is helpful. Yeah, I. It's not something I think about much, I'll be honest with you. It's quite an interesting word for me to consider because I don't think about much, but I did used to have a massive fear of death, like almost crippling, actually, initially about myself. But then when I had children, it kind of transferred to them a bit and I did a little bit of poking around in the past to try and resolve whatever it was and did. Did some journey work, like Brandon Bay's journey work, which is kind of like a regression type thing. And. And the thing that came up from my memory was the fact that when my grandma died, it's the only time I ever saw my dad die. Dad cry in my entire life. Never seen him cry before or afterwards. You know, that was the. It was like he fell to pieces in front of me. And I think that created A massive fear around. Well, you know, my dad's this strong, powerful, you know, strong man who never cries. He never cries because he's. That he was that generation of men who never cried. And, and this thing, this, this, this event, this death has. Yeah, it's. It's finished him off almost. He was just. Yeah, shattered by it and really emotional, having. Never, as I say, not before or afterwards would he ever show that level of emotion. But I. I don't really know what I think about it at all now. I just don't think about it. I guess the odd thought pops in, you know, my mum's 80 now and my dad died in the last few years. 2018, my dad died. So I guess it feels closer than it did. I think when the generation above you goes, begins to go, you start to think about your own mortality a little bit, don't you? But I guess what I would say about it is that I'm too busy living now and enjoying now and doing my life now for it to overly pop into my head. So I don't have massive amounts of thinking about it, I guess, other than. It's just this is part of the journey and maybe we've become quite attached to that people. Whereas, you know, this, this life, this, this current life in this body has a finite, you know, length of time to it. So, yeah, and to me, enjoy what is now and enjoy the present moment as much as possible and do what you can in the present moment and do look after night for me, looking after this fleshy thing that I have to live in. Meat suit or some people like that makes a lot of sense, you know, but otherwise there's not much we can do about it or we can't control it, can we? Which might be a bit scary for some of our listeners. I know not controlling things used to seem very scary to me. So. Yeah, so not a massively brilliant start of the 10. So I'm gonna bat it back to you now. Off you go on my shaky start. You can build something that hopefully won't fall down.
No, that was, that was actually good because I bet you there's a lot of people that really don't think about it much and there may be some who do. Yeah, yeah. Well, I kind of. I kind of see that our experience with death has a lot to do with our experience of life. Like the clearer we are about what's true about what we really are, like seeing that we are. There's nothing that's not energy and that the energy, that's animating our physical body or meat suit lives on. And one of the great confusions is in this understanding of, you know, that we are energy, that we are this. We are an expression of this infinite intelligence that is basically life, if you want to call it that, what creates life. But that's not typically what we've been taught to be in relationship with. We're taught to be in relationship with things that are changing all the time and that come and they go, and. And we're taught to believe that those things are real. Like that's it, that's all. So when a body comes into. Onto the earth, you know, one of my nieces had a baby a few months ago, this beautiful little being. And when he came into the world, it's like he is really spirit expressing through this little tiny body. And we too are of the same spirit, energy expressing in the bodies that we've been gifted our vehicles to move about in life. And when we see clearly. Well, this is how I see it. When I see. I see it and then I don't. Let me just make it clear. I still mourn for. You know, I just spent the weekend at. At a. My cousin's celebration of life. He passed in March. And my dog Sergio, which I haven't spoken about yet, passed a couple of weeks ago. And I really see that when we're really aware and present. You were talking about present. Present to what is present to the fact that there is a body and we're experiencing the essence of this person or animal who. Whatever it is, a tree, a flower. You know, it's fall here. Some of my flowers are, you know, they're going into fall, they're, you know, starting to die off. But it's like the energy of them, I can still feel that. You know, what I appreciated throughout the summer as they were blooming, and I know they're going to come back. I sort of see that with humans as well and animals, that the spirit that they are living through this body, the body goes. But the spirit lives on in some capacity. And I believe it's sort of meshed together because energy is like, you know, it doesn't die. Energy is, you know, scientifically, energy can be, you know, compressed together like it is in this body and, and it can be let loose kind of thing. And it's like, that's all it is. It doesn't disappear. It doesn't totally go away. It's used and comes together for something else. So, yeah, seeing death, it's like, okay, when I see life, it's like, wow, there's this opportunity for this unique expression of Claire and this unique expression of Michaela to come through this body, speak, you know, carry out, carry about in the world. And people recognize us as, oh, that. That's Claire. Oh, that's Michaela. That's what Claire's voice sounds like. That's Michaela's voice. And we have different perspectives and some things are the same and different. And we converse. And when the body goes, you may not hear this voice again exactly like it is, but we can trust and know. And how often have you run into someone, it's like, wow, you sound like someone I used to know who's passed or, whoa, did you ever look like someone? And there's no relation. You know, it happens. What I believe is, it is these energy bits that some of those are going to go into someone else and appear again. So I. It's a death of a body, but it's not a death of the spirit that lives it. It's like there's so much more to be expressed and it's going to be expressed in another way through some other entity. So, yeah, I have mourned my cousin, I have mourned my Sergio, but it's more the absence of them. Like, it's the memory. It's like, oh, they used to be here. And when they were here, this was the feeling. I can feel them. And then it's like, oh, but they're not there. And then it. And then it, like, you know, sort of cracks it. And then you feel the absence. The morning that we put Sergio to sleep, we knew, like the next day, the day before, I knew it was gonna happen that week, sent a note to my family because they all wanted to be here, my kids and Rob and I. And I said, it's gonna happen this week. Keep your evenings open. And then the next morning it's like, oh, it's tonight. Just in how he was presenting. And I had a shower that morning and it just. It's like I got reminded of him, his spirit. And I sent it a message, a text to my family and just said, oh, my gosh, remember what he is and what we all are. And when you look at him, don't see his broken down body because the spirit that he is is still fully alive and full. It's just the body is not able to express him anymore in the way. So it's like, let's free that spirit, right? So it's just like this. His spirit is going to live on. It just kind of Changed things. And they said that it did help. It did help to know that he's going to go on. He's going to express. I have no idea how that looks. If I can come back after my body's, you know, gone, if I can come back and somehow get the message out, hey, this is what happens. You don't have to be afraid of death. You can be happy for, you know, the spirits that are released from their physical body and they go on to express even more. Like, you know, I'll do that. So, yeah, I'm. I'm just seeing it. And it's like, wow, when. When we can see what life is, it makes death seem not as harsh and hard as we sometimes just make it out to be. Not that we're. Not that we're not going to miss that person, because there's something about reaching out and touching someone. There's something about that that just. It's irreplaceable, really. But there is comfort for me in this understanding about, you know, who. What we really are here, what life is, what death means. Yeah.
That's amazing. Yeah, I guess I love what you're saying about the. The essence of who we really are and that. That. That goes on, you know, the thing of one. One spirit having 8 billion human experiences and some tree experiences and flower experiences and all those things. And I think maybe that all of our suffering is caused when we forget that, you know, not just in our relationship with death, but in our relationship with everything. When we forget that we're infinite, when we forget that we're universal intelligence and consciousness and all those things and love and peace and wisdom, that's when all our suffering occurs, doesn't it? Yeah, because we've forgotten and we forget all the time. You know, it's not. I don't think we'll ever be in the place of remembering it all the time, but I think if we can keep looking in that direction and keep exploring in that direction and get a sense of this. I don't know, this superpower that's within us, that is who we really are. We. We identify so much like you said when you said we identify with these temporary things. We identify with not just this temporary body, but all the other temporary chisel that goes through us, all the thoughts and the emotions and the behaviors and. And we do the same with other people. We identify with that as being them, you know, all the temporary passing things. But what's all. What's always been there, you know, what's always been there kind of Watching all of that, observing, being aware of all that going on. I've been in this exploration of Salvador pose book Liberation is when he talks about. He talks about awareness, really. He says, you know, I, I equals aware, you know, what is. All the way through the book. He just keeps saying what has been there all the time. Not your thoughts, not. Not your body, actually. Because how. How long does it take to. For your entire cell system to completely change and become a complete. I'm not in the same body that I was. However much time ago. I don't know how long. Yeah, seven years. It's not long, really. Yeah, that's. That we completely change and there's no cell, no cell left behind. There aren't any. And yeah, I think this is my. You know, and some of the lines that are appearing, they weren't here so long. Not so long since, you know, so. So all of this is. And it was. I was just. I was just sharing a bit of. Patch of a nice patch of white hair under here with Michaela just before we started. Like, that wasn't there not so long since. So. So this isn't. This can't be who I am. This. This can't be who I am because it's changed and it's like seeing like. Right. So we're not the body. We're not the thoughts, we're not the emotions. We're not the behavior. Neither is anybody else, which is also helpful. So what's left? What's been that consistent thread through our entire life? And I think it's. It is awareness. It is this. Yeah. This universal and this energy that's just been there all the time. On one of the calls when I was. I'm on this book group for this book, and it. And somebody said something about, you know, they thought they would be a different person when they grew up, and they're not. They know it. They know some more things. But actually the way they see everything is, you know, that. That sense of that something that. That bit that's consistent hasn't changed. It's always been there, you know, and yet we. We so identified with the transient bit, trying to fix the transient bit, trying to fix everybody else's transient bit, trying to fix this transient bit, the body, you know, like, how much energy are we spending on that? So much energy. So much energy tiring ourselves out all the time. I think. Yeah, that's a great. A great topic because it's. It's the same as every other topic in a way, isn't it, that it's what are we identifying with? Yes. Yes. Thank you. It was a good word.
Thank you, too.
Yeah. And thank you to all the lovely listeners for being here. Yeah. Thank you, Kyla. I will see you next time. Take care. Until then. Ciao, Claire. Bye Bye.
