A 3.7 GPA midfielder asks if MLS Next 2 leads to Division I soccer. The answer: not yet. No one's made that jump directly. The real path is MLS Next or MLS Next Best, plus 3-4 college camps a year, 6-8 highlight videos, and messaging coaches on Instagram.

I'm a junior, it's April, I have a 3.7 GPA and I play right mid. Can I play college soccer at the Division 1 level? So first of all, playing MLS Next 2, first, there's nobody who's gone from MLS Next 2 to Division 1 because it's so new. So the short answer is no, you will not go from MLS Next 2 to Division 1. However, I think they very much will do so, especially as MLS Next 2 becomes very competitive. Right now, the short answer is you could only play Division 1 soccer if you go to MLS Next or MLS Next best if you're within the MLS NEXT environment for most cases. Otherwise, you do need to go to more camps than other kids. You can still play Division 1, but you need to be prepared to go to 3 to 4 camps, and you must be making 6 to 8 videos per year given the situation you're in. So MLS NEXT 2 can absolutely lead to Division 1 for sure, but you're going to have to do more than the average kid. You'll have to go to 3 to 4 camps of maybe the same school, and you'll have to send 6 to 8 videos over the course of a year in addition to tagging them and messaging them on Instagram.
