A guide for Division II soccer recruits: play at the highest club level possible, attend college camps as a freshman, make highlight videos early, and focus on local schools where coaches can watch you regularly. Division II rosters are increasingly stacked with international and graduate players, sometimes 95% of a championship team.
What club level should you be at if you want to play Division II soccer? So the answer is you always want to play at the highest club level because it's not like you play at this level equals this division, right? It's about how many times you get seen, how much time you get exposure. So if you want to play Division II and you're not playing Easton IL MLS NEXT, you need to go to many camps because Division II schools can have you train with the team. So if you go to their camp starting freshman year, by junior year or sophomore year, they'll say, why don't you come train with the team? And if you train with the team and you do well, They'll make you an offer within 2 to 3 days usually, and that is the whole point because they'll let you train with the team. That's how the whole system should actually work, is they should let you train with the team, but the NCAA sucks and that's not allowed. So because Division II, it is allowed, you want to take advantage of that to get recruited. So go to their camp early, make video early, and focus on the local schools because they can see you more often. Now be careful, a lot of Division II schools now have international players or older players, specifically if you're like in the Florida region where internationals want to live there and they're willing to sacrifice their education to play soccer. Like the team that won the NCAA tournament for Division II, if you look at their roster, it's 95% grad students and internationals.
