Zev Taublieb walks through a three-email sequence for high school soccer players chasing Division I scholarships. Start with a mass email asking which game to attend, then confirm you're coming and request a meeting, then send a personalized note with a video clip showing you can do what their players do.

3 emails you should be sending during the fall season in order to play Division I soccer and get a scholarship. The first email is what we call the fall mass email. So this is what you're gonna say. Dear coach, I'm thinking about coming to one of your games this fall. Which game would you recommend I attend? Now this email you wanna send out to schools you're interested in, but you can also send this out to your B schools. If you wanna find out how much a coach likes you, if they respond to you and say, look, we really would like you to come to this game and you're willing to make the flight, we'd love to have you. Boom, now you've got yourself a visit and you can go shake the coach's hand. And now, because of that aggressive email, you're now talking to college coaches. The second type of email is you would say to a coach, "Coach, I will be attending one of your games on this date," which means you actually have to go. You can't like fudge around that. If something comes up, of course, you can always email them you couldn't make it. But you wanna say, "I will be coming to this game. Would I be able to shake your hand in person before or after?" Now you're literally inquiring, can I come and meet you? And you're willing to travel, you're willing to watch the whole game because you want to. And now the coaches know you're interested. And the coaches know you can't do this to every school, so they feel special and it feels genuine, and that's the secret to this process. And number 3 is compliment them about their playing style. Say, I watched your game and I watched number 8, and I'm a center mid too, I'm a center back, and I watched how they played out of the back and I want to do something similar. In fact, here's some video of me doing exactly that. Extra the points for that. If you want help making that video, or if you want help going to those, write those emails, or picking out which camps to go to, then comment the word call and we can schedule call with you and your parents.
