What do I do if there's no ECNL or MLS Next teams in my area? If you're not playing ECNL or MLS Next, you can totally still play college soccer. You just have to have a slightly different strategy. First one being you need to aim for Division 3 and Division 2 schools first, and you must go to local ID camps. I went to 25 ID camps. That's because I didn't know what I was doing, and neither did my parents. I'm not going to make you go to 25 ID camps, but you're going to have to go to some. And if you're not playing ECNL or MLS Next, You have to. Secret, if you are playing MLS Next Gen now, you still have to go to ID camps. But when you are not playing at that level, going to those camps is the best way to for sure get seen, 'cause they're not coming to your showcases, they're not coming to your league games, and they're not coming to your high school games. So ID camps give you a guarantee to be seen. Now you wanna get genuine interest before you just go to any of those games. And the best way to get genuine interest is make a video, send it out to them, and make sure you craft that email really mindfully. Say something along the lines of, Are you looking for blank for the class of blank position for the class of whatever class you are? If so, I'd be happy to come to your ID camp. By telling them you'd be happy to come to their ID camp, they're much more likely to go to your video and click on it because they know you're willing to pay money. And yes, this is a way they make money, but most of you are concerned it's a money grab. You should all be grateful that camps exist. If tomorrow the NCAA says no colleges can have ID camps, then your chance of getting recruited dropped down by 1,000%. Yes, they suck, some of them, but some of them are really, really good.
