Zev Taublieb sells a $5,000 consulting service for youth soccer players chasing college scholarships. He claims three to five coach calls before junior year boost your odds by 80%. His tactics: contact backup schools first, send three highlight videos, attend ID camps so coaches see you in person.
Not to brag or anything, but I'm a beast when it comes to helping kids play college soccer and get scholarships of $100,000 or more. And if you were to pay me $5,000, this is the one piece of advice I would tell you. If you have 3 to 5 phone calls before January of your junior year, the chances of you playing college soccer go up by 80%. Here are 3 ways to get on phone calls with college coaches. Number 1, you want to reach out to your quote unquote backup schools first. The more interest you get early on, the easier it is to get interest later on because everybody's gonna ask you, have you had any phone calls yet? Via email, who else are you being recruited by? And if you can say I've already had phone calls, then the next school will wanna get a phone call with you as well. Number 2, you need to have sent at least 3 videos to a college coach before they will even entertain getting on a call with you. And number 3, you want to be going to ID camps so they get to know you in person and then they will wanna speak to you and your family.
