Two coaches explain how EDP high school soccer players can get recruited to college even without a top-20 state ranking. Start Division III ID camps sophomore year, then email coaches monthly highlight videos and showcase schedules. If your team skips showcases, guest-play for clubs that attend them.

You can play college soccer if you're playing EDP.
Look at this guy.
This guy says, my team is ranked top 20 in our state, and I have many players going to college to play, and we all play EDP. This is amazing. And I asked him, what level of college soccer are they playing?
Division 1? Are they playing mostly Division 3, Division 2?
Where are they playing?
I'm so glad to see this, but I can tell you, on a mass scale, if you want to play Division 1 college soccer, statistically speaking, you have to be playing at the high levels.
But like this coach is saying, it's still possible even if you're playing at this level. But you do need to do more than the average player. Now this team is ranked 20 in their state. So that means maybe some college coaches are coming to watch them.
And I'd love for you to comment and tell us, you know, where are your players playing college soccer? Because that's fantastic. But if you're not playing on the top 20 team in your state, or maybe you are playing EDP, or maybe you are playing at the top 20, you have to be still extraordinarily proactive. You need to write the best emails you can write. You need to go to certain ID camps, and you need to have it all scheduled and calendared out. If you're playing EDP, I suggest you do this. I would focus on Division III ID camps first and foremost, even though this guy is saying you can definitely play college soccer. I still would start there. Then once you have the interest of the DIII schools, which I would start going to camps your sophomore and junior year, once you have the interest of those schools, then I would email Division II and other Division III schools that maybe you're more interested in and explain, look, I have interest from such and such school, your school I'm more interested in, you know, here's my highlight video, etc. Are you looking for X position for the class of X?
Then you need to make multiple videos and send that out probably once a month, starting ideally in your sophomore year, but you could do it from your junior year as well. Then you definitely want to send them your showcase schedule. They're not going to come to your league games. I find that very rarely happens.
So when they ask for your spring schedule and the coach says, please update us with your schedule, they're not asking for your league schedule unless it's a local team. They're asking for your showcase schedule. If your team is not going to any showcases, you need to think about being a guest player for a different club or a different age group.
And then if you say, hey, look, I'm going to this showcase, and the coach responds, we're not going to be at that showcase, that's their way of telling you, you got to come to camp or we're not going to recruit you. If you want more help playing college soccer, give me a call.
