Less than 1% of youth soccer players get scouted passively. If your kid wants MLS NEXT or ECNL, contact academies like LA Galaxy, Houston Dynamo, and Seattle Sounders before age 12 with a highlight video and attend open tryouts. Doing this raises recruitment chances by roughly 70% for talented players.
If you are 12 years old, never do this if you want to play MLS NEXT. Do not think that the clubs or the MLS academies are going to come to you because you're playing so good on your club team. That happens to less than less than 1%, and they're not just going to come after you because you're so great. You must go to them 100% of the time. Now, when you go to them, don't just go to them cold. Make a highlight video, go to the open tryouts, and if you try and go to MLS academies after the age of 12, it becomes very difficult to become a part of them. And when I say MLS academies, I'm talking specifically the pro-affiliated teams, the Galaxy, the Houston Dynamo, the Seattle Sounders. After the age of 12, it's very hard to break in. Now it's hard to break in at all times, but specifically after 12, it becomes very difficult. If you send them an email with video showing how good you are and you go to the open tryouts, the chance that you get recruited by them, assuming you are good and good enough, it goes up by like 70%.
