A scout talks to Sebastian, a high-school junior with a 2.6 GPA but strong soccer skills, about getting recruited. The plan: raise his grades, make a highlight video, and email it to junior-college and college coaches. Sebastian needs to reach out via Instagram to share the tape.

Mr. Number 7, can I ask you a couple questions? What grade are you in? You're very good. You're a junior in high school? Yeah. What, um, what's your GPA?
Uh, probably like a 2.6. Okay.
All right, that's not what we want to hear, but you definitely can play college soccer. Where do you go to high school? GPA? Do you know— you're a junior, you don't know what you want to study for school yet, do you?
Uh, no, not yet.
And do you play club?
Yeah.
Who do you play for?
Uh, right now I'm playing with Oaks, but I'm looking to go to at least Oaks FC, and you're looking to play with the Easton L group maybe?
Okay, that'd be really good. Do you know who I am?
Yeah, yeah.
So look, your grades aren't great, but I got to play against you today, and you got good feet, you got good composure. Grades are a problem, but junior college is also really competitive, so you still have to do the same things. So we recorded this, so hit me up on Instagram. This is a good video, put it together, and we should send out to some coaches. The club you're with now, they're not going to a lot of showcases probably. Yeah, so you got to go to a camp. So think about if you can get your grades up, that's one option. Or if you know you're going to go to junior college, like Oxnard's really competitive, so you need to start emailing the coaches your video because they're really competitive. Those kids, you know, some of them get drafted. What's your name again?
Sebastian.
Sebastian, good job. Hit me up. All right, good job.
