ODP experience matters for college soccer recruiting, but it won't get you recruited alone. Start with Division III and NAIA programs first, then move up to Division I, rather than chasing D1 from the start.

Do you look at Olympic development teams? Please let me know. Basically, Olympic development is ODP, and it's basically like within your region you can be selected for being like one of the best players within your region. It used to be a really big deal. It's not as big a deal as it once was, but if you are in ODP, definitely mention it in your emails. Definitely mention it in when you talk to coaches. It's difficult, like if you're playing Eastern RL or NPL or not in ESNL or MLS Next Pro League Academy and you're playing ODP, it's still very helpful, but it doesn't mean you're just going to get recruited. So please be proactive. And if you're playing ODP and you're not playing at the highest levels of Easton, MLS Next, etc., focus on Division 3 schools first, NAIA schools, then work your way up. Because you can still play Division 1, but you don't want to just focus on Division 1 first right away. That is a bad idea because then you could end up not getting to play college soccer at all. And that, of course, would suck. If you need more help playing college soccer, give me a call. Link in the bio. Talk soon.
