How does college soccer work? College soccer works just like this. You are in high school, a college coach would like to recruit you to help them win their soccer games. They have to get a hold of you somehow, so since there's so many kids, they are going to prioritize players that they see locally, hear from, from college coaches, hear from, from club coaches, or you showing them interest will tell them, hey, this person's interested in me, I may spend some time getting to know them. So that's what you need to do to get their interest. One of the ways to show interest is video. ID camps, emails, and visits. Now, going on these 4 facets enables you to increase your chances, but the one to not overlook is the club soccer. If you don't go to showcases where you will get noticed, then these college coaches cannot do recruiting. How does college soccer work when you're in college? This is the schedule. You will go to report in August. In August, you will then do 2-a-days for about a month where it's pretty aggressive and very physically demanding, and you'll have preseason games that don't really matter. You'll This varies from 1 to 3 games. Then you'll start the season. There will be 2 types of games. There will be games in which they are in conference, which matter towards the league, quote unquote, league table, and out-of-conference games. Now, while you play these games, you'll be ranked on a scale. This scale will determine whether or not, if you win enough games against the good teams, if you'll get an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament. If you don't get an automatic bid and you win enough games in your conference which then allows you to win enough games to qualify for your conference tournament, which for most teams, everybody qualifies. And you win the conference tournament, even if you've lost to teams outside of your conference, as long as you win the conference tournament, you are then getting an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Then in the NCAA tournament, there are rounds, and each of those rounds leads to the final, and of course, in the final determines the victor. For Division I this year, on the men's side, it was Vermont, and that was amazing, 'cause they've never won the NCAA tournament. Ever.
