A coach tells high school soccer players to keep emailing Division I coaches until they get an explicit no. Six unanswered emails doesn't mean you're not good enough, it means your video or message didn't land. Send 4-6 highlight videos, ask a direct question about your place in their recruiting class, then move on if they still don't respond.

Here's a sign that you are probably not good enough to play Division I college soccer. If you emailed the school 6 times with no response, odds are you are not good enough, assuming you're emailing them after June 15th of your sophomore year because that's when they can respond back to you, but they were taking notes well before then. Then you might have to say you're not good enough. But here's the problem with that logic. That could be the case, or your video just might have been really poorly formatted so they never watched it, or you didn't ask the right questions in the right email so they actually just never responded. So the way I I live by is until they tell you F-word, bleep here, no, that doesn't— it's not over yet. You have to follow up again. And I'm going to give you another video here in a minute of the San Diego coach telling us this exact same thing. It's called hunting. Until they say no to you, you have to keep going. Now here's the problem: you only have so much time in your life. So are you going to keep attacking a school that's just not responding to you? Hopefully not. Hopefully you will then take your energy somewhere else, and then once you've gotten a school that you also hopefully like, you can go back to the school you you haven't heard from, like dating, and say, look, I'm in love with you, but I haven't heard from you. Do you love me or do you not? And once you send them about 4 to 6 videos, you guys can ask them any aggressive questions you like because you've earned it. You've shown them interest, you've sent them video, and now you deserve an answer. So after you've sent those videos, I want you to say this question. Ready? Write this down. I want to say, I have sent you multiple emails. I understand that you are very busy. May I politely ask 'If I am part of your recruiting class for the class of blank.' Now, you cannot do that until you've sent 4 to 6 videos, because otherwise you're just rude and egotistical and they get so many. But if after that they don't say anything to that email, then I would say time to move on. If you want to know the email templates you need for every situation in the recruiting process, comment the word email.
