Top academic Division III soccer programs commit recruits by early decision, making it hard for seniors to get recruited. Players need to attend the school's ID camp, submit 3-4 highlight videos, and hit 1-2 showcases. DIII recruiting is competitive because many players chase academic prestige over Division I offers.

Can I play at a top academic Division III school if you want to play college soccer? If you comment the word top academic, I'll send you a list of what those schools are. But you have to know those schools are done recruiting so much earlier than even the Division I schools. So if you're a sophomore or freshman— juniors, it's gonna be a little late, but if you're going into your junior year, it's okay. If you're going into your senior year, it is probably too late if you're watching this video. The reason for this is most of these top academic schools want their kids to be doing ED-1 or ED-2, which happens a little bit earlier than the application process. The other reason is if you for example, get recruited by a top-end of D3 school, it is very possible that you only have to apply to one school because the coach is going to tell you you're going to get in and all you have to do is apply. Coaches also know that families tend to know that it's okay or that they'd be happy going to X school, so they can recruit you a little earlier because they know, hey, this person is not debating whether or not to come to my school. They know there's a top academic and they're ready to say yes. A lot of college coaches are afraid to make you an offer because like, I don't really know if they're ready to marry me. Maybe they're still flirting with other people. But with top academic schools, everybody pretty much knows, hey, it would be an honor to go to that academic school. To go to top academic schools, you must go to their ID camps. There's about 80% of every Division III player that commits has gone to at least one of that school's ID camp. You must send about 3 to 4 videos and be seen at 1 to 2 showcases. To give you an idea, if you wanted to play Division I at a top academic, You'd have to go to their camp 2 to 3 times starting in your freshman, sophomore year, and you'd have to send them about 4 to 10 videos, and you'd have to be seen in a showcase 4 to 6 times. So you can see for top academic D3s, it is a little bit less than it is for the D1s, but it's still really competitive because every player who may not be D1 level wants to go to the top academic D3 schools instead.
