Two coaches review a soccer recruit with a 3.2 GPA who sent four scouting videos and multiple emails. His talent impresses them, but his grades fall short of the 3.5 needed for academic scholarships. They decide to ask about his family's budget and push him to raise his GPA.

Hey, assistant coach Johnny, did you see that guy on the half turn? That was a pretty good moment. I like that 6 for us. I think we need a defensive mid and I like his style. Hey, head coach Johnny, I think that kid is really good, but I need to know his grades. That's your job. You're the assistant coach. Look it up. Sorry, coach. Sorry, coach. Of course. Um, he's got a 3.2, so it's still good enough to get into our school. Yeah, but we're not going to be able to offer him any scholarship. Even the athletic money we have is not going to be enough. And normally we could compensate with some pretty good academic scholarship if he just had a 3.5, but he's got a 3.2. Even if we like him, he's going to get no money and our school's pretty expensive. Damn. Should we even bother watching the game? Maybe we should just leave. Well, at least see the email he sent us. Maybe it's a good email and we should consider, you know, watching. Yes, coach. Sorry, head coach. I knew that. So look, he was really complimentary, to be honest. And he sent us 4 EveryTouch videos, which means, you know, I know he can send a lot of emails out with the Called Soccer Guy AI system, but these are really genuine. He probably did send this to a lot of coaches, but to go out of his way to send us 4 videos. And the videos are pretty good. I mean, I need to see him in person, but that's, you know, he sent us 6 emails. Okay, that's a pretty good point. Why don't we email him and ask him what his budget is? Because we do like him. I like his attitude. I like his ability. But we need to figure out maybe if he can get his grades up or, you know, if the family have it in the budget. Okay, let me email him right now for you, Coach. Do you have the budget to go to our school? We really like you as a player, but we notice you have a 3.2 GPA and we're not going to be able to offer you a lot of academic or athletic scholarship. This is exactly what happens during the college recruiting process. If you don't have above a 3.5, you don't get the same academic money. Which means you often will get overlooked to get recruited. So just by having a good GPA, you're more likely to be recruited because the coaches feel more comfortable with the fact that they could offer you money, which they know that you want. So if you want to talk to the head coach, the assistant coach, or to the college soccer guy, give me a call. Links in the bio. Talk to you soon. Goodbye.
