A high school soccer player got Division I interest from University of Portland after a follow-up email highlighted his size, footwork, and MLS Next experience. The coach replied saying they needed a striker and invited him to camp. The video shows how persistent, specific outreach and attending showcases can turn initial interest into real recruitment momentum.

How to get recruited by Portland if you want to play Division 1 college soccer. So we have a female player who committed to Portland, so I have some experience in this. This is particularly with a male player, and I'm going to show you the email that we sent to them, which we have sent to a number of other people. Dear coach, I'm saying you see many emails, I'm working on coming to your camp. But prior to this email, we had said some genuine aspects of their style of play and people we knew on the team. So this was a follow-up email because we hadn't heard from them in a minute, but we did prior to this send some genuine aspects. So in this part, the coach responds with this: We're definitely Okay, this was last year. This is a top priority for us. All right. So if you saw my other video where I talk about UCLA saying, hey, you're going to get to see us as well as other players that was interested because they still responded, but not like this. This is we need a striker. Those strikers are graduating. The ones coming in are going to be good, but we want a striker. So this is like amazing. It would be great if you could come to camp and train in our environment. Let me know if you have any other questions. So look, are they saying you're the level? But again, Portland, you said that they don't respond to you unless they're semi-interested. So because of his subject line, they're like, hey, this kid seems like he's the part. He's a big kid. He's got good feet. Plus, this particular coach has other references from his MLS Next team saying he's Division 1 level at a high level. And we have references in his other emails from big schools saying, hey, we think you're the level. This particular student has some other complicated stuff because he's on a gap year. But the point is, you know, he's getting responses from the big, big schools. So I responded to my student because that's what I do with my students. I have 24/7 access. So we're emailing back and forth. And I said, look, you did your part. Now it's up to us. Do you want to go to the camp? Should we send more video before the camp? We've gotten the connection. Now it's about going to camp and hopefully going to a showcase where he will be and come to watch us. And that's how you get recruited by those top-level schools. If you want more help playing college soccer, give me a ring. Links in the bio. Talk to you soon.
