Playing in ECNL gets you seen, but you need a plan. Email coaches three to four times before showcases, start freshman year, and attend regionals and playoffs. Early contact makes coaches way more likely to show up to your junior showcase.

If I play ECNL and I'm a sophomore, can I play Division I college soccer? ECNL does get enough exposure typically from college coaches if you're going to ECNL showcases and if you're going to playoffs or regionals. If you're going to go to playoffs or regionals or showcase, make sure you email everybody on your list, everybody who's attending, as well as your backup list. Now a lot of those schools either won't have told you they're coming, may not be coming, or may change their mind and attend because of you. Now, typically, if you're sending your very first email as a showcase email, meaning this is the first time you're sending out a message to them going, here's my schedule, please watch me play. They're not going to come watch it. You have to have punched them in the face with emails, quote unquote, multiple times, usually 3 to 4 times where they respond to you before they're actually going to come to your game. So if you are a junior and you're playing ECNL and you're going, let's come, please come to my showcase. It's very possible that you're very behind on the list. Had you been emailing them since sophomore year and freshman year where they say, look, we want to keep an eye on you, we're not going to be able to come to your showcase, but they have been telling you we want to keep an eye on you, we've seen you at our camp. Now when you email them junior year and you say, am I going to be at the showcase, does the timing work out for you, the chances that they actually come and watch you goes up by 20-fold. So what I would tell you is ECNL is good enough to play Division I soccer, but the idea that you could just you email them right off the bat one time and they'll just come to your game by emailing them a week before, despite maybe your video being phenomenal, you know, you're not going to be at the top of their list. If you would like to know which showcases you should go to, comment the word ECNL and I'll be able to send you a list of showcases that college coaches go to. If you want to call me, comment the word call and we can schedule a call with you and your parents. Your parents must join us on the call.
