A soccer recruiting coach advises a mother on club options for her sophomore daughter. GA Aspire is a stepping stone platform, not a direct path to college recruitment. To reach Division II or III, the daughter needs a GA team, 6-10 camps yearly, and a video package of 6-8 clips.

My daughter is deciding between GA Aspire and ECNL RL. Do you know which one we should pick? Hey mom, so it is a complicated question and it's one I get often. The first thing is I have a couple questions about your daughter. Is that okay? Yeah, of course. What's up? My first question is what's her GPA, what level does she want to play for, and how much video do you have? She has a 3.7 GPA, she wants to play Division III or Division II, and she does have video but we haven't put anything together yet. Okay, so what I would tell you is GA Aspire is really kind of the third or fourth tier of the recruiting process. It's a glorified word for DPL, NPL kind of level. And as of right now, because it's so new, it is not going to get you recruited to play college soccer really, maybe Division III, but not without very aggressive going to 6 to 10 camps in a given year. Now, the good news about GA Aspire is it's typically a stepping stone to the GA team. So it's kind of like what ECNL RL is to ECNL, GA Aspire is to the GA. So, Your daughter is in what grade? My daughter is a sophomore. Okay, so here's the deal with girls. Girls are done recruiting to the Division I schools pretty much going into their junior year, and by February of their junior year, most Division I schools are done. So, especially the top ones. So in your daughter's case, you mentioned Division III, Division II, and she's got really good grades. Because she's got great grades, Division II might not be an option for us, just because we want her to go to a great academic school. So now we're talking about the top academic DIIIs. Here's the problem with top academic D3s. They're really good at soccer and they're really competitive to get into. The Chicago, the Tufts, the NESCAC schools. So now, if you're telling me you're playing GA Aspire and you want to go to those schools, I would tell you that's not really realistic. If, on the other hand, you make a GA team and you go to those camps and you send 6 to 8 EveryTouch videos and you're willing to go to 3 to 5 ID camps, then those might be possible. Um, coach, why are you making me cry? This is like so much work and like, I don't know if I did enough for my daughter. Okay, calm down. I'm telling you right now that this is something I deal with pretty often, and we're not gonna lose the dream for your daughter, but we do have to take some action steps, one of which is I gotta see her video to see how good she is to see what the next steps might be. So we do need to take action really quickly. Now my job is to give you the best chance to get the best exposure, so what I wanna tell you is we need to get started with our strategy that I kinda talked about. Could you schedule a call? Absolutely, I'd love to schedule a call. How do I do that? Click the link in the bio, and I can schedule a call with mom. I need to talk to you, and I need to talk to your daughter. I will talk to you soon.
