Scouting a right back to see if they're good enough to play college soccer. We're at a high school game, Beverly versus Lenox. Let's see if he's good enough. So I've been watching the game now for almost a half, and I quite like this player so far. From a defensive perspective, which is what I'm looking at the most in your defenders, I'm looking at his defensive shape. You can see right here he's in line with the center backs. Maybe there's one center back slightly out. See, this is an odd shape here. They should be in a line for the most part. But having said that, the ball's way over here and it went for a shot. But the point is, I really like his work ethic, ethic, because he's been going every tackle. On top of that, he's willing to work really hard every time he gets the ball, meaning anytime he has a chance to be involved, he wants to make sure he can do the best. Now, many of you already try your best and coaches can see that. Effort is kind of the bare minimum. We need to know that you work really hard. But as a right back, your job, especially in your every-touch videos, or in your full game videos is to show us, hey, every moment I get, I'm full force. Where if you're a striker, we don't need you sprinting around every second because you have to reserve your energy to score goals. Right back, your job is to stop the winger from crossing. To the degree where it looks like he may have gotten a knock and now he's been subbed out of the game. And this also is not your guy's fault. Sometimes you get injured and now the scout can no longer recruit you. So that's just bad luck, which is why When you guys get frustrated about ID camps or you get frustrated about showcases, really what you want to say is, look, those are really good opportunities to be seen, especially ID camps, because you're there, your coach is there, and it's right there. Now, for D2, D3s, those are real opportunities. For Division 1, those usually, if they go well, they lead to a showcase. They're not going to lead to like an offer only on an ID camp. And if you're only playing high school, you are also not going to just be able to play college soccer. Typically, you're going to have to do both college or club and high school. If you want more help playing college soccer, comment "call" and we can schedule a call with you and your parents.
