A student reached out to Carnegie Mellon about recruitment. The school has steep standards: you need a stellar GPA or relevant high school internships, and even that's no guarantee. More visibility helps create opportunities, but it doesn't land you an offer.

It's story time with one of my students. Which college did they talk to today? This particular student spoke to Carnegie Mellon, big time. Obviously, Carnegie Mellon is an incredible education school, meaning the academics are really, really, really, really high. So if you want to go work to a school like this, you need to have a phenomenal GPA or have an internship while you're in high school in the field that you potentially plan to study. Even then, that doesn't guarantee anything. So let's see what this coach said to our student. We look forward to seeing you again at the MLS Next event. If you would like to be recruited and you want this success, I guess you could call it, or response rate, I think is a better term, because this doesn't mean they're going to get recruited, it just means that they get more eyeballs on them, which is all anybody can do for you is get you more opportunities. That's what I want for you, more opportunities. Please click the link in the bio and apply, and I'll talk to you soon.
