A soccer player who earned a Division I full-ride scholarship shares how he did it: recorded every training session on his phone, emailed hundreds of college programs with his footage, and attended six to eight ID camps yearly. He played defensive midfield with few highlight moments, so he had to create visibility himself.

3 habits that took me from JV soccer to playing Division I college soccer on a full-ride scholarship. Number 1, I recorded everything. I took my phone to training on a tripod and recorded everything. So whenever I had that amazing moment, I had proof of it on footage. I was a defensive center mid, so I didn't have all these highlights, but when I had my one banger or my one ping, I had it on video. I recorded everything. I emailed hundreds of schools. In fact, I emailed every top academic Division III, every high-level Division II, and literally every single Division I school. I went to a ton of camps. Every single year I would go to about 6 to 8 ID camps, and that increased them knowing who I was, which then got other schools interested who didn't even know about me initially, because coaches talk and it's a small world. Comment the word state and I will send you a question of which state you're from, which will then give you every single club team that's the best in your state.
