High school soccer players should contact college coaches by finding genuine connections: a shared hometown or club with current players, a detail about the coach's background, or a specific game performance you watched. Never lead with self-praise. Show you did your homework instead.

So here's what we need to do. Step number 1 is you got to find something genuine. Here are some aspects that I suggest for you that are genuine. Okay, number 1 is look up the roster. If you can go on the roster and somebody's played in your position, or which obviously there is, but mainly if they played from the same club or the same city, that's a connection. You can say, I went to the same high school as so-and-so, or this player used to play for the same club team. That's awesome and super helpful. If you actually know them, you go, I've trained with them in the summer. Super helpful, I get video of that. The other thing is to look up the coaches. Let's say the coaches, we had one coach who like volunteered in Venezuela. The player was, family was from Venezuela, so they said, I saw that you volunteered in Venezuela. I just wanted to say, I think that's amazing what you do. Then you go into the rest of the email. So that would be something genuine. So find some sort of connection. Maybe they're majoring what you wanna major in. And of course, if you know the coach or your coach knows the coach, then you definitely wanna mention that. And then the third, which makes it for the trifecta, is go watch them play online. Or in person and go, I really enjoyed watching player X. Go find their name and their number or their jersey and say, I was really impressed with XYZ. I play the same position. And that's it. Don't ever give your opinion. Don't ever say I'm really great and I think I'd be a great fit. Don't give your opinion. They don't want your opinion and you have no idea if you'd be a great fit and you don't know if you're good enough. So don't say it because that will piss them off. Better you want to say some type of genuine connection about them. That is the key. If you want more help playing college soccer, give me a call. Links in the bio. Talk soon. Bye.
