A soccer player's 20-second highlight reel should open with an eye-catching play in a stadium, include a 10-12 second self-intro stating your name, position, school, and key attributes, then close with another standout play. This structure boosts the chance a coach notices by 20-30%.

You have 20 seconds to convince me and college coaches that we should recruit you. What are you going to do? Well, you might write me an email, and in that email you might say, I'm a really fast player, I'm a really strong player, I'm really dedicated. So is everybody else. Doesn't make you different. Your mom or your dad think you're great. So does every other parent. What's going to make you different is going to be in the first 20 seconds of your highlight video. And in that first 20 seconds, it should be a phenomenal first play that is very well seen, meaning it's on VO or trace, or maybe huddle, but it's zoomed in and very clear who you are. If it's in a stadium, it will automatically get extra points. Then you will have your self-interview, which will no longer— will last no longer than about 10 to 12 seconds with your information. And then the next clip will be another amazing play, and that right there will be your 20 seconds. And if you can do those 3 things, the chances of your video getting noticed and being sold to a college coach so you make the money and get a scholarship or get recruited goes up by 20-30%.
