Two recruiting coaches map out how a junior soccer player can improve his D1 college prospects. They recommend the Occidental Elite Soccer ID Camp first, then Cal Lu as a D3 backup, and suggest using a specific email template with the line "may I shake your hand in person?" to reach coaches. If D1 doesn't work, they say expand to D2 or D3.

Fixing a junior situation to make sure they can play Division 1 college soccer. Let me show you what we're going to do with this kid to fix his situation.
So first of all, the kid has to go, go to Elite Soccer ID Camp hosted by Occidental. The kid's a LA local kid. That's one of the best camps to go to.
So that's the number one step we need to take.
Number two is because we're late and he's got no interest, he's got to get interest from a D3 school as a backup plan to just playing college soccer.
Slash, once you get interest from one coach, you can leverage slash the other coaches just hear about you just because it's a small world and it's really helpful. So Cal Lu is a great program local to them.
He's probably too close to home, so if they don't like Cal Lu as a backup, they have to find a D3 backup relatively local. If they don't wanna do that, which the family may disagree with us, then if he wants to wait until he receives genuine interest from a D3, and then go to the camp, that's okay too.
Most of those camps will happen in December and in January. So I'm happy if the kid says—
look, I'm telling you to tell him to book California Lutheran ID Camp.
If the kid goes, I don't want to, then you could say, okay, we'll wait till we receive genuine interest before we pick a D3 school, but we will pick a D3 ID Camp.
This school will have some of the best D1 schools at it, and it's hosted by a great person. He went to a Stanford camp.
It is not realistic. He is not good enough for Stanford.
Cal Poly, um, is possible.
Riverside, he didn't like the school that much.
So he's already gone to 3 D1 camps and he's still had no phone calls and no interest, uh, no off—
no official visits as a junior.
If that's the case, you cannot keep only doing Division I.
He did his dream D1s, they didn't go over the moon about him.
They still like him, you could still get recruited, but you keep doing this, you'll just feel like you're wasting money at the D1 camps So you gotta go to D2 or D3 camps. He's open to D2 camps, so you can also say pick a D2 camp.
If he doesn't know what school, we will help him decide based off the genuine interest received, 'cause I'm gonna send some emails out with him.
When it comes to emails, he's gotta send out the FEST showcase template, because that's important.
Make sure we ask the question, may I shake your hand in person? That's very important, that's the second sentence. Then the next piece is, the father will be very involved in this player's process.
He played college soccer at Northridge. So what I want you to say in the email is I want you to say, I want you to say, dear coach, genuine, then the ask, which will be the showcase template.
Then he's gonna say my name is, he plays for a good MLS NEXT team.
Then he's gonna say my father played at Northridge, played at Northridge, played D1 soccer. Played U1 soccer at Northridge.
Uh, Northridge.
Now he played with the— he actually, his teammate is the current head coach of Northridge, Terry Davila. Odds are the
