Three recruiting mistakes junior soccer players make: relying on one highlight video instead of full game footage, attending mass ID camps instead of invitation-only ones, and waiting for their club coach to contact colleges. College coaches want to hear directly from the player, not the coach.

3 mistakes you are making as a junior going into your senior year if you're playing MLS next. Number 1, you only have 1 highlight video and you don't have any every-touch videos. Number 2, you're thinking about going to mass ID camps instead of really focusing on the genuine invitation camps. Number 3, you're thinking your coach is going to do all the work for you and make a dozen phone calls and you're just going to get recruited. The college coaches love talking to your club coaches, but it is not enough to get you recruited. You must serve it to them on a platter. Don't make them do all the work for you. They're happy to do some work for you because they love you, but they're busy humans and college coaches don't pick up their phone calls even if they're best friends. College coaches are busy too. College coaches want to hear from you. Once the college coaches hear from you and you get genuine feedback, then you can ask your coach for help. If you want more help playing college soccer, comment the word "call" and we can schedule a call with you and your parents.
