High school soccer players kill their recruiting chances by emailing coaches before sending 4-6 personalized emails and 2-3 highlight videos, having a GPA below 3.0, or playing for clubs that skip showcases. Keep your own YouTube highlight page instead of relying only on recruiting services.

Here are 3 ways to get crossed off a coach's list immediately if you want to play college soccer. Number 1, if you ask them if they are recruiting you. You think that's a good question, but unless you have already sent them 4 to 6 emails with at least 2 to 3 videos, they're going to be like, how could I do that? And clearly you're naive and I don't want to recruit you and I'm moving on with my life. And probably your parents sent that email and that's just annoying. Number 2, I know all of you want to hear about the grades and can you get in. Look, if a school really, really likes you, It's very possible that they could get you in even with your grades, but they're not gonna pick you if you've got a 2.8 or a 3.0. There's another kid who's equally as good as you who's got a 3.3 or 3.0, and it would be really beneficial for the school 'cause they can offer you academic aid. But I don't want that to be my number 2. I just want you to know that academics are really important. Your number 2, if you are playing on a club team that does not go to any showcases, and you know this to be true, the coaches are gonna be like, look, I appreciate it, but you gotta come to my camp. And then you're gonna be like, I don't wanna go to your camp. Then you're gonna go back and forth. So to get crossed off the list real quick is if you go to a team that has no showcases, that's a problem. Number 3, if you don't have a YouTube page. I know you guys have SportsRecruits or ScoutingZone or God forbid, AgencySA, but you need your own page. This is about you, this is about your life, and I want to make sure that you can play college soccer out of school and not get crossed off the list. So what I want you to do is comment the word email so you know which emails to send.
