Student-athletes should send full-game videos to coaches only after strong performances, roughly once a month. Post short clips weekly on Instagram instead. Coaches want one polished highlight reel at the start, then every-touch videos from your best games.

If I have a game every weekend, should I be sending video every weekend to the coaches after each game? No, definitely do not do that. For example, we just had a student, he's a student of mine, who was starting to make their video, and I went over the game with them, and I said, look, you did not play well in this game, so you cannot share this video. Only share video when you do really well. This should happen, I would assume, about once a month. So you're really sending video about once a month, not every week. Now, if you have a clip or moments of a clip that don't add up to a minute's worth, then you can post that every day, every week on Instagram or on the socials, and then tag the school. Extra points if you tag the actual coach, but do not continue to add. Yes, here accumulate, meaning, oh, here's my highlight video, I did really well, here's, I'll add more to same video. Do not do that. College coaches never want to see the same clips again. So if you want to make 10 different highlight videos, you could, but they don't really want highlight videos. They want a highlight video at the very beginning, and then they want every-touch videos throughout that. Every-touch videos is every touch you took in a game, and make sure it's a game you played well. And do not give us a game where you kicked it out of bounds every time, or you tackled every time in it, and you didn't keep the ball. Give us a game you played really well. If you want more help, give me a call. Thanks.
