Call me link in bio

College soccer coaches watch 8-12 second self-interviews in highlight reels to assess personality and character. Film yourself from the hip up on a soccer field in full kit, smile, and keep audio clear. A brief personal clip after your best plays gives coaches a quick read on who you are.

Hello everybody. So this is about the self-interview. Why do you need a self-interview in your highlight video if you want to play college soccer? Let's talk about it. So I'm going to show you an example video just so you have an idea. You can click on this, you can watch it, and you'll see one of our players. Basically, they do a self-interview. Now we're going to make this nice and organized and pretty for you. We're going to help you put all this stuff on this. Don't worry about that. Just worry about the self-interview. Just notice we're at a soccer field. It's from the hip up, and in his case, he was a taller player, so we did that. If you're really tall, we like the hip up. If you're short, we still like the hip up, just so that way it creates an image of like, hey, this player is good. If you are short, I'm short, we kind of try and hide it to some degree, but again, they're going to know how tall you are at some point. Just really important, please film vertically, the hip up, wear the full kit, be at a soccer field. We want you in your whole jersey, or at least certainly your shirt and above, and smile, show us your personality. And the biggest thing is like no wind. If we can't hear you, then obviously it doesn't work. The reason the self-interview is so important is college coaches are trying to get to know you as a person, and if they can get to know you better as a person in 15 seconds, it can tell them a lot about you to maybe make the decision, you know what, I actually want to know more about this player. Now we got to get to the soccer really quickly, which is why the self-interview is going on while they have the information, and it's really only maybe 8 to 12 seconds. And we're going to show a soccer clip first, then cut to your self-interview, because that is what the coaches really want to see, is the soccer. And that is why self-interview just has weight to it. We don't want a 10-hour message, we just want it quick, short, to the point, but we get a little bit of personality out of you.
