A coach breaks down why trying to hit harder actually slows your shot. The fix: practice 6-yard box strikes with multiple balls in a row, focusing on clean contact and keeping your head down instead of forcing power.

If you're a striker and you want to play Division 1 soccer and your shot looks something like this, you're never going to play Division 1 soccer. First, you're going to practice your power shot really nice and close like this. You're going to be at the 6-yard box and you're going to line up a bunch of balls, practice striking through it. But all of you guys want to hit it as hard as you can, so because you're trying so hard, the ball goes even slower. Just think about the contact, don't think about how hitting it as hard as you can. Keep your head down and the ball will go in. If you're a striker and you want to play Division 1 college soccer, comment striker and I'll send you a bunch of tips on how you can do just that.
